The Grigori class are sensor ships - essentially a sci fi version of an AWACS aircraft, and/or SURTASS ship. Coalition ships use hyperspace energy sensors, both passive (analogous to passive sonar) and active (analogous to active sonar or radar). The passive sensors are those white ball things you see on the ships, the active ones are the billboard things that look kind of like radar sets. As you can see, both systems are rather larger on the Grigori than any combat ship, giving it far more range, resolution, and all around sophistication in the sensor department. There's a bunch of other miscellaneous sensors on the ship, along with a whole mess of communications gear - twice as much as a battleship. The class can also act as rather effective electronic warfare ships, blinding enemy sensors.
Like the present day equivalents, these ships would be relatively rare, very sophisticated, and extremely expensive.
The class underwent a name change; they were originally Turgran ships, but I thought there were too many of those so I switched them to Human designs. In mythology, the Grigori were angels who watched over mankind. Seemed an appropriate name.
