Am I the only moron that didn't realize that a new Alien movie was coming out, much less coming out in 2 weeks?

I haven't seen any mainstream advertising (though I haven't been to the cinema in ages, so they could be showing massive previews before every film) just the occasional trailer floating around the internet for some months. The advertising I've seen seems to be of the "LOOK TEEN BOI! RLY RLY VYLENT MOVIE INBOUND!" variety. Lots of fast cut editing, guns, darkness, guns, splatter, running, waving torch beams, splatter, thermal vision, splatter, guns.

Sounds like a good movie to watch at home with a few beers to kill time, such a waste of a good franchise though (judging by first AVP).
But I can't throw, I throw like a geek!

I've seen plenty of TV advertising, but then again I live on the Eastern seaboard, not Pittsburgh, so we have television. JK -

However, the ads appear pretty much like Enkidu described - mostly, "Look at this! Stuff getting blowed up real good!"

Seen ads. Am singularly unimpressed. Will probably go see it anyway, just 'cause the Aliens are cool.

I have to be honest (as if i'm ever not) that I liked the first AVP. The movies are lightly (very lightly) based off of the novels and I have hopes that the new AVP coming out will continue to impress. I didn't like the trailers for the first AVP but I like the movie so I'm hoping that they have the same crappy advertising crew.

The only part of the first AvP I didn't like was the "worship as gods" part... but that is easy to ignore.

Why? I think it made a fair bit of sense in the Cannon that is both Aliens and Predator.

I think the first one's worse aspect was the letters / architypes of the ancient precursor civilization. How much sense does it make for all three's letters to be present instead of a combination of all three?

What I'm wondering about the second one is what does 'R' stand for?
