Language Censor
After some discussion, we've decided to remove most of the language censorship that operates on the forum. This was put in place largely because we expected to have a fair percentage of teens or younger as members or viewers. This doesn't seem to be the case, so most of it has now been removed.
Do please remember that this board is about reasonable behaviour. Yes a degree of angry expression is allowed, but masses of flaming for the sake of it is still against the rules. This move is not an invitation to simply start cursing at everyone you disagree with all over the place. Indeed part of the motivation behind the move was that there isn't actually very much swearing to censor in the first place.
There are still a couple of words in the censor. Those chosen purely reflect the sensibilities of those doing the choosing, your mileage may vary but cest la vie.

There was a language censor?
No trees were killed in transmission of this message. However, some electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Yes there was.
Still is, actually, but very few words are on it now.

Looking at your signature Seafort, a certain f word is now acceptable...

You can even say fuck instead of "a certain f word" if you like.

To be fair, we have been getting more polite over the years. I think its more of a boiling pit of hate vs our desire to take our nations to war and try a last man standing effort.Captain Seafort wrote:I take it you haven't read many of mine and Deep's friendly little discussions then?Foxfyre wrote:I never noticed that there was a censor........oh well.

Point. Indeed, our exchange last week regarding the Venstar/Vicstar switch was downright civil.

Re: Language Censor
Actually one of the reasons I suggested this change in the first place was that I did searches on the forum for each swear word in turn and counted the number of times it had been used. Considering the total post count there are remarkably few, so why have a rule that's not really needed? I've always thought rules should be kept to a bare minimum around here.

Okay, now I'm curious about the results of that counting.

If you don't count Seafort's sig I'm probably responsible for half of them.
