Question: I know you covered the lane-based travel system (which is great, btw), but what about hyperdrive ratings? As in, most ships seem to be rated at a 2, but some ships are 1's, and certain ships (like the Millenium Falcon) are rated 0.5 (the smaller the number, the faster).

Are you going to incorporate a speed system?

Yes, but speed works in reverse for simplicity sake.

All ships are rated 1-10 in FTL speed. 10 can travel 10 units (call them Mega-Parsecs or something) in a day. The map is scaled to be about 350 units across on its X-Y axis (in the most direct routes which you would rarely take). So you can get just about anywhere with faster ships in a month or two.

Cool. Just read that part in the guidelines. :)

What of planets that have minor commodities (such as Naboo's high grade plasma and rare wine)? How would those be brought it?

All trade goods are distilled to a simple value known as Trade Goods which for the purpose of the sim just equals cash. It is cash you earn outside of taxes so Naboo would have a value like 750,000 or something which is just pure profit for the player.

The only directly traded resources for players are hypermatter, tibanna gas and military grade ore.

Makes sense. Good way of doing it too.

Um... might have missed it in the rules thread, but what determines a small, medium, large ship?

Like, give examples in each category please.

A medium ship would be a Victory Class Star Destroyer.

A big ship would be something slightly larger than an Imperial Class ship.

There are 5 classes of ships, determined by size.

Corvettes (think CR-90)
Frigates (Think Nebulon B)
Destroyers (Victory Class)
Cruisers (ISD, MC-90)
Dreadnaughts (SSD's)

Anyone who can build big ships can build up to the Cruiser weight ships. Medium ships means up to destroyers.

There was something in the rules about starfighter classes. The impression I got was that class 3 are bombers, and class 1 light fighters. Would that make class 2 dual role?

Sort of. It is explained on the design sheet itself but basically class 1 fighters won't have a hyperdrive or heavy missiles. Type 2 can have most things but not the heaviest missiles or some specialized equipment that class 3 things could carry. Class 3 craft can carry things like boarding equipment and assault equipment that allows them to ferry troops around independent of their capitol ships.

More like

Tie Fighter
X-Wing
B-Wing/K-Wing/Tie Bomber

But yeah, you pretty much have it. You could in theory use all the space on a big class 3 fighter to make a very big, fast and well armed interceptor. But it is probably not the best use of your space.

Probably not, but it could be fun...

Thanks
