Its moments like these that make me thankful that I never got into the series.

A Night in Sickbay is right along with 2 Days and 2 Nights are perfect examples of why Ent was the worst Trek series ever committed to celluloid. Threshold is stupid, really, really stupid, but nothing like A Night in Sickbay. I liked Chuck's analogy, "a character lynching." After I saw this episode I could never take Archer seriously again. This is Archer at his absolute worst. Hell, this is Pholx at his worst, his most, "weird gross alien for the sake of being a weird gross alien," moment of the show. I mean shit, Tucker actually seemed competent in this episode and T'Pol wasn't a total c**t, that was how bad Archer was in this episode.

Funny how, during episodes where a single character happens to be the focus of such stupid writing, the other characters seem to actually become competent and reasonnable?

Tucker/T'Pol/Hoshi in this episode. Neelix in "The Disease".

Well, funny, or actually relieving. We could hypothetise these episodes happen in an alternate universe, where these character are actually nice and competent?

Wait Neelix was competent? What are you smoking?

I don't remember the episode clearly enough to comment on it but in general Neelix has some shockingly competent/unannoying moments.

Oh, yeah! SFDebris did a review of that episode and went out of his way to comment how non-sucky and receptive Neelix was in it.

Oh lord, which one was that. Ugh, he was helping with Tuvok with something. He found a problem, documented it. Came up with a good solution and implemented it. At no point was he annoying or an idiot. He was competent and calm. Shocking really. And in one of the first Voyager episodes when Kes tells him that Janeway cares about her crew he tells her you don't care about your crew and then introduce them to the spectre of death at every turn just for the hell of it.

He had his moments.

The only good thing Neelix was good for was that he gave Q his best nickname ever. Was it Kitchen Rat? I am brain farting...
