Shall we get the ball rolling?

How should the Daystrom RP proceed from here?

I guess so, pending on what PC's we come up with. I have an NPC (assuming Thorin ain't coming back for this) XO, for example, but if someone wanted to make a PC for the job I'd have him.

Nothing and everything. Ops is nominally defined as "non-mission oversight." That is, overseeing the day-to-day running of the ship; however, think Data or Harry Kim - they generally are used as a jack-of-all-trades to assist with technical stuff or general mission info. When Mikey (the character, not me) was ops chief, I sort of added administrative functions and whatever information/intel issues came up that didn't fall under the science dept., as well as a sort of de facto 3-i-C, having oversight of small-group details, etc.

Hm. I could foresee a few inter-department squabbles, issues with resources allotment. I'll try and write up a good ops officer. I assume the Paladin would have an intel chief due to its nature ;)

An actual intel officer would probably be attached for the mission by Starfleet. The permanent crew would, if such issues came up, probably handle intelligence matters between ops and science.

cut out Kyfro Dansch and Zora Kane. I'm not going to be playing Kyfro - and James has changed divisions so they're not even together any more and Zora Kane died on the station.

Also James is no longer a Platoon Commander....he's just a member of a spec. ops team.

As for D'Tyra, post her where you wish on the Super-P. Military training but a civilian background sorta means she can do almost anything with a level of competency.

Ok, I've slightly amended the list. Two things. Reliant, you've got three characters with two on the Daystrom and one on the Paladin? Staplic, you've got Cix and Corrin looking like they are both going to be on the GCS. Since you seem to be the only marine character at the moment, let me ask you. What sort of marine force are we bringing? Corrin's spec ops now. They usually work in small teams, no more than ten men at most. If that's the case, we can eliminate the GCS completely, I suppose.

How about this, gang. We forget the GCS. We bring a smaller contingent of marines and post them aboard the Paladin. That puts both Cix and Corrin on the Paladin as well. We promote Mark to first officer, then make D'Tyra (spelling?) the 2nd officer plus another job....and Cix Tactical Officer/Security Chief (or vise versa and make Cix the Paladins XO, leave Mark alone as Sec/Tac and 2nd officer, and make D'tyra an official Romulan observer and give her some sort of position...not sure how we'd justify a Romulan Officer serving on the most advanced battleship in Starfleet, but we'll figure something out.)

OR

Transfer Reliants Cardassian character to the Paladin as Ops Officer, and but her on the Daystrom since there were "sparks" between her and Mikey. It'd make more sense to have her stationed there to observe anyway, IMO.

That would spread things a bit more evenly. If we get more players down the road, we can always add another ship.

Thoughts?

Your char, so it's up to you. Lemme know, and I'll update the rosters.

Mark - I like the idea of a spec-ops team rather than a battalion-sized detachment or something. If we are going with that and without the GCS, bear in mind that the Daystrom has auxiliary craft for landers/drop ships. I'd guess the big P has more room for berths, though.

I'll go with option 2, that was actually my preference from the beginning but I'm really not that fussed.

I like it. Just bring along a couple spec ops teams. As for Cix it makes more sense to promote mark. He's served at a higher 'level' than Cix for a lot longer.

OK, that means we're switching Darel to the big P and D'tyra to the Daystrom, right? I'll get to it after I finish my coffee.
