2012

Post by USSEnterprise »

I saw this a couple weeks ago and while I don't watch many movies I can reasonably say this is the worst thing I've seen in a LONG time. The whole thing is beyond ridiculous and there are more plot holes than you can count. Special effects are decent but they seem to be really overdone. Anyone else see this?

It's not nearly the worst I've seen, I just watched Giant Shark vs Mega Octopus... :bangwall: , however it is a quite stupid movie.

It's not even fun in good fun blowing stuff up kind of way, it's just crappy...

Yeah I saw it.

I thought it wasn't that bad. It's obviously just FX porn but it's the Angelina Jolie/Natalie Portman/Racheal Wiesz threeway of FX porn.

I think the special effects were nicely made, but I just think they were over the top. It gets to a point where it all become rather ridiculous. I feel sorry for the character of Gordon through, losing your girlfriend to her ex-husband...ouch.

I laughed at the idea that neutrinos were "super heating the Earth's core". Proved by showing an underground tank of water which was boiling, no less. Yeah... sure... no scientific problems there, no siree.

I got bored the THIRD time the aeroplane took off Just In The Nick Of Time. What on Earth is the point of staging the same basic gig three different times and ways in the same movie?

And then the last half hour... I'm sorry, but I can't get enthused in watching characters try desperately to fix problems that THEY JUST CAUSED with their own selfishness and incompetence. You know that guy played by Oliver Platt? The movie spend a significant portion of it's runtime convincing us that he is EVIL and not to be listened to. Well if everybody had just done as he said all along? There would be no problems in the last half hour of the movie, and everything would have worked out just fine.

Stupid, stupid movie. Nice FX, though.

It couldn't possibly be that good.

Jesus. That sounds almost as bad as The Core, where Earth's core stopped rotating and they sent a train down to the centre of the Earth to fix it with a nuke.
