Signing of the Dorvan Non-Proliferation Treaty
Dorvan

In the culmination of two years of hard work lead by the Cardassian Union the Dorvan Non-Proliveration Treaty was signed by several powers in the region. The Treaty represents the first major step toward limiting the spread of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) across national borders.

The pioneering effort by the Cardassians was not surprising as it became clear that their primary motivation would be to keep the weapons out of the hands of the Breen and their Terrorist Organizations.

The treaty was held up several times with disputes over the wording of the Treaty regarding what did and did not qualify as a WMD, what sanctions would be allowed, what actions could be pursued to prove an infraction, and other such items.

The Cardassians, Federation and Ferangi were among the first to sign this treaty, followed swiftly by the Klingon Empire, the Tholian Empire, and the Jacorn Alliance.

The Hyllus Confederation refused to sign the treaty which caused some alarm in the federation and Klingon Empire, who shares a border with the nation. Additionally the Romulan Star Empire has not commented on their position toward the treaty, nor are they expected to. Since their announcement they have gone into almost complete silence.

Cardassians Invade
Cardassia

After five years of blockade the Cardassians mounted three full invasions aimed at the three Breen worlds that sit between their space and Federation Protected Breen Space. Rough estimates place approximately 25,000,000 Cardassian Soldiers on Breen soil at the beginning of the campaign.

Unfortunately the Cardassian forces found a large Breen force waiting on two of the worlds and a militant and armed civilian population on all of them ready and willing to fight to the death against them. Attrition among the Breen Population reached levels of 80% on one world. The Cardassian forces were forced to pull back with the bulk of their forces lost in the few month long campaign.

News of the invasion has quickly spread through the former Confederacy and only endeared the citizens more making Peace in this corner of the Galaxy a long shot for the time being.

Attempted Theft at Starfleet Headquarters
Sol

In early August Federation Security officers apprehended a man outside the Starfleet Intelligence Building apparently attempting to steal sensitive information from the Federation. Attempted background checks on the individual yielded no information indicating some kind of connection to the underground.

In a release hours after the attempt Starfleet Intelligence said, "We apprehended someone in the process of stealing critical technical plans from the Federation. We are searching actively for the other portions of the intel ring that were invovled with this in an attempt to limit the damage done. We will have no further comment on this intelligence matter"

The man is currently in isolation at a Federation holding facility awaiting trial.

Federation Tries Romulan Agents
Sol

A counter-intelligence operation headed by Starfleet discovered a cell of Romulan Agents working within the Federation to feed intelligence back to the Star Empire. Within hours of discovering the names of those involved seven arrests had been made and the suspects transported to a maximum security holding area.

After a lengthy interrogation process three of the original suspects were deemed innocent, but released from Starfleet Intelligence positions, the remaining four will now stand trial for their actions against the Federation with attorneys pushing for a full life sentence in Federation penitentiaries.

Romulan Agent Executed
Qu'onoS

The Federation's trial of the Romulan agent comes in contrast to the Klingon Empire's public and brutal execution of a Romulan Agent also caught feeding information back to the Empire. The High Command demanded the agent's public execution take place in the meyrI'bIj, the punishment square where traitors to the Empire are subject to brutal tortures and deaths to this day.

Federation Ambassadors and Press were invited to attend; however, most were forced to leave the spectacle before loosing their lunch at the brutal execution of the officer. Which included the severing of limbs with blunted bat'leths the use of d'k'tangs to open wounds on the agent's torso that were then subjected to stabbing with pain sticks and the final disembowelment of the Romulan spy.

Following the public execution the recordings were publicly released as a warning directly from the High Council for attempting to steal information from the Empire.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Federation Conference for Peace
Sol

In light of the recent attacks by the Breen the Federation has called for a conference to form next year to discuss the continued attacks by the Breen Insurgency. Attacks to date have included the attempted destruction of Cardassian and Federation ships rendering aid, the attempted acquisition of trilithium, and attempted ramming attacks on Cardassian worlds.

According to one representative from the State Department the goal is to see the eventual removal of the threat posed by the insurgency, and the pacification of the populace as a whole. It is hoped that with the combined efforts from several in the area they will be able to shut down the insurgencies operation.

GNN Presents: Ni'Hywrn famed academic and former professor of Political Science at Harvard College:

Tholians Right to Be Angry, Wrong to go Public

The Tholian government has every right to be angry and to extract
justice from the Klingon agents it discovered operating among its
people recently. However venting that anger in public in an attempt
to extort financial concessions from the Klingons is an act calculated
to reduce rather than increase the stability of the quadrant.

Intelligence is one of the last great games being played in the
galaxy. It is often a messy and unpleasent business with operatives
written off by their government for convenience sake. However it
serves a vital purpose. Without facts gathered by national
intelligence operations governments are prone to fill the void with
rampant speculation, often fueled by paranoia.

Declaring intelligence gathering activities an act of war may be
correct in a technical sense but is impractical in the real world.
These events are best resolved by a quiet exchange of operatives in a
manner that facilitates stable, long term relations between powers and
allows the flow of information to keep governments from being engulfed
in paranoia due to being uninformed.

Bringing this sort of activity into the open just invites further
claims by other powers that will lead to more instability. The
intelligence community operates in the black for a reason. Absent
massive provocation and overtly hostile acts beyond information
gathering it should stay there.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Tension Rises
Sol

In a flurry of diplomatic activity tensions in the Cardassian-Ferangi-Federation area climbed this year after a conference called to handle the Breen threat ended with the Cardassian and Federation ambassadors at odds.

Following the Conference the Federation has publicly released it's findings that suggest the Cardassian Union is actually responsible for what were thought to be attacks by a Breen insurgency. Among the evidence is the capturing of one of the suicide mission freighters by Federation Officers. This freighter, like all before it, appeared suddenly with no point of origin. Upon capture a cloaking device was found with Klingon Origins, but that was produced by the Cardassian Union. The Union admits to having purchased a Klingon Cloaking Device from the Tholian Assembly. The Federation maintains that the crew of the freighter was bound and beaten, apparently only on the ship for show. Individual interviews with the crew yielded identical stories of a prison camp controlled by Cardassian Agents where they were held with several other crews. This matches a scan taken on behalf of the Federation, in an unrelated incident, of a large prison area on planet 53 with Breen Bio-signs, and evidence of several ships powered down and hidden in the Kuiper Belt of the system.

Lastly the Federation included sensor logs from it's two Intrepid Class ships that were dispatched to give aid to a Breen Freighter on the outskirts of Claimed Cardassian Space. As the ships approached, the ships quickly activated a self-destruct, seemingly before the Federation ships could reach short-range sensor range; however they failed to do so, and the sensors recorded a skeleton crew of Cardassian Operatives on the ship.

The Cardassian Union claims that the Federation is manipulating facts in an attempt to extort the Union, and bend them to their will. Following the Federation's public announcement of a plan of action, the Union claims the Federation transmitted a personal letter from the President explaining that the Federation knew the above facts to be true, and if the Union refused to cooperate with the Federation's wishes, the Federation would go public with them, and expose the Union plot. The Union, beat them too it however, publishing the letter in their rampage against the Federation.

They addressed the discovery of one of their Cloaking devices as a relic picked up after the last war by Breen insurgents. They have also questioned how the Federation came to have sensor scans and knowledge of the prison camp on 53 with no clear way as to that supposed knowledge falling into Federation hands.

The Union also claims to have evidence that suggests the Ferangi Alliance are in fact the benefactors of a very real Breen Insurgency. They are claiming to have discovered a failed subspace weapons test between the Ferangi and Breen insurgency that left their ships practically destroyed. Evidence collected at the sight however indicates the Ferangi were selling subspace weapons to the Breen Insurgency, an organization the Union claims is organized from the Breen Systems inside of Federation protection, in an attempt to prophet off of the continued warfare between the two powers. They have also insinuated the Ferangi as the sellers of the Trilithium the Breen were found trying to smuggle back into protectorate space, and as giving loans and other funding to the Breen in order to establish and continue their insurgent operations.

This prompted a response by the Ferangi Alliance denying all allegations thrown against them. They claim they have not dealt in weapons since the rise of the new Nagus. They also claim funding such a venture would be too risky, for should one side wipe out the other, all the loan funds to that side would simply be gone.

However, with many powers, including the Ferangi Alliance, known to have done business with the Orion Syndicate it isn't clear who to trust. The fall out from these revelations will certainly be felt for years to come.

Tholian Trade Plumets
Tholia

In a stunning move the Tholians have cut all trade passing between themselves and the Cardassian Union. As one of their largest trading partners and one of the largest in the region this will surely have effects on both economies. It is unclear right now if this is due to the recent action at the Breen Conference, or if it is for some other unknown cause.

"It is clear what they are doing," Said Mankiw, Economics Professor at Harvard University. "With Tholian goods flooding the market, the increase in supply has begun to lower the price. The Government is trying to create a temporary shortage to drive the price back up for their valuable jewelry or exquisite silk."

Another economics expert Gregory Lage argued, "That cannot be the case. The Tholian government is loosing just as much money in this situation as the Cardassians, however the nature of the Empire means it cannot undertake such a cut as easily. This would appear to be the effect of some other major happening inside the Empire that restricts their ability to meet this trade contract."

Klingons in Trouble with the Council?
Sol

Late last month, Starfleet Intelligence delivered a closed door report to the Federation Council. This meeting was not expected as the annual intelligence report was delivered to the Council over a month ago.

Following the address the council members refused to discuss the exact topic of the briefing, however one member did admit that the Klingon Empire will have some explaining to do. When asked about the selling to the Klingon Cloak to the Cardassians revealed at the Breen Conference the member replied that the Empire's technology was it's to do with as it wished.

The question now remains, what did the Empire do that warranted this meeting, and what will the fall out be.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

346: Joint Military Zone
Qu'onoS

In a rapid and surprising turn of events the Jacorn Alliance claimed system 346 as part of their newly growing state. This official claim was protested within a manner of hours by the Klingon Empire, who until that point had completely ignored the planet. The Federation aided in negotiating a deal between the two powers that eventually lead to the control of the system falling into Klingon Hands.

Within a matter of weeks, the Klingons and Tholians jointly announced that the same planet, 346, was to become a joint military zone. The planet would be controlled and colonizable by both parties and both having military jurisdiction over the area for an unquantifiable period of time.

This news was welcome within the Federation where growing tension between the two nations had many on their borders becoming nervous. This news is predicted to factor heavily on the Jacorn elections however, which are due this year. With the expansionist party a traditional ally of the current majority party, it is unclear what this action will do to their long-standing relationship.

Cardassian Default
Cardassia

Following the years accusations the Cardassian Union announced that it was refusing to repay it's debts to the Ferangi Alliance. This has sharply driven up interest rates around the quadrant, but none more so than in the Alliance and Union themselves.

Estimates on the Ferangi loans exceed 40,000,000 credits to the Cardassian Union for varios purposes and at differing interest rates. This represented nearly 1 and a half times the annual GDP of the Alliance and as such the major shock refusal to pay caused interest rates to rise shaprly.

The Union too is expected to see large increases in their interest rates as their own people are now the only ones who will buy their debt. Additionally, other interest rates have risen across the Quadrant as a sign of the financial panic this sudden news has brought.

Jacorn Election Year
Jacora

The Jacorn Elections were held this year with much anticipation as the party which rose in popularity three decades ago because of it's open attitude toward the new Jacorn position, was on the fence to retain it's majority following several stagnations in the parties policies.

The Republic Party was able to maintain it's majority, but only barely, most votes have become polarized and have flocked away from the Republic and Alliance parties in favor of other more specific party aims. The one surprise was the Confederacy Party, which has seen it's largest climb in a century.

Additionally, rifts between many of the specific parties and the Republic party caused a panic when it appeared the majority party wouldn't be able to secure a majority coalition. However several deals were made with party leaders to secure the Republic party it's majority coalition; however how long it will remain is unknown.

The new coalition is formed of the Republic Party, the Expansionist Party, the Industrialist Party, the Techno Party, and surprisingly the Greene Party. Currently all parties just wish to see the Jacorn continue to advance, however the political disagreements between the Greene Party and Industrialist Party will likely come to a head at some point in the future.

War
Sol

This year the Federation and Klingon Empires began a series of war-game demonstrations on the Ferangi Border as a show of good faith with their treaty allies. While the fleet was stationed there a Cardassian force approached demanding they move off. Exact details aren't known of the following engagement, but it is known that the majority of the Federation-Klingon fleet withdrew to a more defensible location, and the remaining Klingon ships were obliterated by the Cardassian forces present.

Shortly preceeding this event the Cardassian Union formally declared war on the Ferangi Alliance which was followed swiftly by a declaration of war by the Klingon Empire against the Cardassian Union. The Federation Council has shown it's support for refusing to back down, and it is expected that if the Cardassians refuse to withdraw they too will announce a formal declaration within the next few months.

The Cardassian Fleet was next sighted at Ferangi system 182 where they destroyed a Ferangi border defense force of 80 D'Kora Class vessels as well as the shipyard on station. The fleet has moved off since then and scattered reports place them somewhere around 181.

Activity over Feranginar.
Feranginar

With a war waging on the edge of their space, no one expected the surprise from the Feranginar system. With Federation and Klingon forces present they made an aggressive move against their own shipyard, surrounding it and holding positions for a few minutes before launch doors began to open up. The ships quickly moved off at that point, and a large, missile like object struck the shipyard and destroyed it.

Scattered reports indicate this was somehow connected to the Orion Syndicate, although it still remains unclear what they might have had to do with this. Additional confidential sources have leaked that the energy signatures corresponding to a Romulan cloaking device were found.

The first came in the area of neutral space between the Cardassian Union and Ferangi Alliance, the second over system 181. Brief War Ends
Feranginar

The attack by the Cardassians early this year was followed by six months of fighting between Cardassian Forces and Allied Forces, predominately Federation in composition. The war was brought to an end after a campaign by allied forces collapsed around the Cardassian offensive and destroyed their fleet.

Peace talks have since stalled between the allied forces and the Cardassian Union, with the Allied forces exercising the option to continue under terms of the cease-fire. Talks appear to have halted over the issue of the Cardassian debt to the Ferangi, a debt they defaulted on before the war, and are now refusing to re-take.

Federation Council Releases Warning

Following the discovery of an undisclosed number of trade routes passing through Federation Claimed Space without prior notification of Federation Officials, the Council released a further request and warning to other powers to notify the Federation of any routes they have.

Inside sources indicate that the Federation Council hindered operations by Starfleet to impound the vessels when they were first discovered, opting instead to let the secrete routs exist for the remaining six months of the year; however all blocks have since been removed.

War and Genocide in the Hyllus Confederation
Hyllus

Rumors earlier this year of massive fleet actions within the Hyllus Confederation were verified when GNN reporters were able to get first-hand observations of the mysterious confederation.

It appears that tensions inside the Confederate Council lead to a full out military fight for ultimate power over the Confederation. The Confederate Fleet was dissolved as each clan recalled it’s own ships and forces.

From there source indicate large-scale bombardments of opposing clan’s worlds amounting from mass-murder to full genocide against clans. Sources indicate the Boulderback, Rootbinder, Ironblood, and Stonewater clans appear to be the only ones to survive the first three months, with all others either completely obliterated or having folded into one of the stronger clans to survive.

Two major fleet actions followed this as the Stonewater Clan attacked the full Boulderback fleet over their homeworld and destroyed them. The Ironblood and Rootbinder clan’s also had a large fleet battle that wound up with the Ironbloods limping away as the victors. When the Stonewater Fleet tracked down the remnants of the Ironblood fleet, they faked surrender before attacking the Stonewater blind and causing significant losses before being defeated.

Sources have indicated that the Confederacy has completely collapsed since the war. The remnants of the Fleet have fallen into disarray, and most of the military forces have been directed at the homeworld to stabilize the population.

Senior analysts have estimated that the it will be another 20 to 30 years before the Hyllus are able to return to the interstellar stage. In the mean time, almost 90% of their worlds have been wiped clean and will likely be targets for colonization.

Federation Colonization Effort Expands
Sol

The Federation has recently begun to expand it’s colonization efforts again. With many of the early Federation colonies reaching stages of heavy industrialization and a booming population, many felt it was time to continue on with the colonization of new worlds.

Recent acquisitions have expanded the Federations borders, as well as filled in claimed space. Many of the worlds appear to be promising settlements and will likely attract adventurous and curios citizens alike.

Starfleet Intercepts Trade
Sol

Following the announcement by the Federation Council last year warning local powers of forming trade routes through the Federation without prior notification, Starfleet was released to protect Federation borders.

Exact details are unknown, but Starfleet was involved in at least one action to deter unauthorized trade ships from violating Federation boundaries. Starfleet hasn’t commented on the situation.

Head of the Obsidian Order Executed
Cardassia

Inside, top secrete sources have indicated that the new Prime Gul of the Cardassian Union ordered the Execution of the Chief Officer of the Obsidian Order. The GNN inside source indicates the execution was ordered to remain as quiet as possible.

The Execution took place with a select group of high ranking officials from the Union Senate and the Obsidian Order alike. The Deputy Chief listed the charges against the former Chief as Failure to Perform Duties in Service of the Union, a crime punishable as death by venomous injection.

Following the reading of the charges, the former chief was sealed off inside a small room encircled by the onlookers, and two large apparently venomous snakes were dropped into the room.

Details following this were sketchy, but it appears the snakes attacked the man killing him after several minutes of agony. Following this our source went silent. It is with regret we inform our readers that one of our reliable sources has died in the service of information. Our condolences go to them and their family.

Federation Opens Exhibit from Recent War
Sol

With Starfleet deciding to scrap many of it’s older models that held minor activity in the war, the Federation Culture Council, in tangent with Starfleet have opened a new display with many of the retired ships as well as an Abraq Class Destroyer and Darhal Class Cruiser captured during the war. Not only does the display allow Federation citizens to walk onboard these vessels, but a special tribute to the war, citizens can sep onto the Bridge of these vessels where special holographic emitters will allow them to watch the activity on the bridge during a select battle from the ships point of view.

Critics have given these reenactments great reviews as very realistic and engaging. The exhibit will be on touring display for the rest of the year while a new addition to the Starfleet Orbital Museum is constructed: a permanent War Museum dedicated to displaying ships with actual reenactments of key battles from the ships on which they were fought.

After a series of meetings between the Federation and Jacorn Ambssadors a treaty was signed securing the two powers in a pledge of mutual defense. The Treaty of Andoria is the first official binding of the two powers together and was lead by similar parties in both states wishing to see the two powers allied.

Following the negotiation disaster over new colonial claims by the Tholian Empire and Cardassian Union, it appears the Union has returned to the negotiation table with the allies to create a document for a formal and lasting peace between all sides.

With the destruction of the Hyllus Confederation a large region of now unpopulated planets was quickly claimed by the Klingon Empire and Tholian Empire. The Klingons have regulated off zones and quarantined the core areas where fighting was reported to still exist. Following their claims, the Romulan Empire spoke publicly for the first time in years to make it’s own series of claims, as well as the controversy surrounding the joint claims by the Tholian Empire and Cardassian Union.

Federation Ships operating in security of the Ferangi alliance made first contact with the Cloran Society. The Clorans are quite interesting by all accounts. The planet developed a humanoid species before the planet flooded covering the surface in water. The species adapted by living on large 'habitats' floating self-sufficient cities. Eventually they took to the stars. It appears that although they are heavily mercantile, their society is based on their religion, with their government actually being a Theocracy.

Their religion is poly-theistic with their King God, Spader, also being their god of merchants and travelers. It is believed the most profitable merchants can gains special favor with Spader and gain a special place in the afterlife.

Signing of the Treaty of Feranginar
Feranginar

Early this year the Cardassian Union and Allies met again to finalize the treaty of peace between their nations. After a break in relations last year following a series of claims by the Union, the Treaty was modified to address several issues of concern for both the Allies and Union.

The territorial terms set the current northern and southern border of the Union for a period of 50 years, and forbade any expansion to within 50 LY of the Ferangi Alliance. The Economic provisions required the Union to repay it’s former debts to the Alliance, including the past due interest. And lastly, the treaty turned over control of former Breen space to a mandate power until such a time as a Breen Government was formed.

The powers met on Feranginar for the official signing returning the Quadrant to peace.

Foundation of the Breen Empire
Breen

After the signing of the Treaty of Feranginar, the Federation, Klingon Empire, Tholian Empire, and Jacorn Alliance began a series of closed door meetings to formulate their rules for proceeding and their terms for the mandate. After almost four months of negotiation, the mandate powers met with a single Breen representative.

Three weeks later the Federation, on behalf of the mandate authority published the official terms of the mandate reign and announced that the Breen government had been reformed, and was now the sovereign ruler over the former Breen worlds.

No word was received from the Breen government. However, shortly thereafter 150 Breen Frigates rapidly appeared in Breen space. Where these ships came from, and how they appeared remain unknown.

Formation of the Neutral Trade Station
Sol

A recent Federation discovery near system 581 was the subject of great discussion and interest this year. The Federation discovered a very large abandoned Starbase near this system, and made a public offer to turn the station over to a joint control by all powers, and allowing the station to act as a point of neutral trade.

Terms for the joint control were finalized and the various controlling nations made their contributions to pay for the refit of the station to bring it back into working order. It is expected that next year the station will be online and supporting the first trade on it’s decks.

Further analysis of the Cloran Society
Cloral

The Federation Cultural Council met with representatives from the Cloran Temple of Spader this year to exchange the culture of both races. After several months of meetings the Federation Science Council became involved at the request of the Speaker for the Cultural Council.

Meetings lasted for several months at the end of which a private conference with the Secretary of State was held. The information was released at a press conference later that week: and pertained mostly to Cloran mythology. The Cloran Society is decended from a larger people on another, now dead world. It appears the Cloran Society was divided into sects between their seven main deities. A period of harshness, religious persecution, and destruction in Cloran history, known in their mythology as the Period of the God War, also matches up with a time when the star that Clora, the original homeworld, orbited began the process of supernova.

The Cloran’s that survived the supernova of their star fled to this new, very similar planet, where they began to live again. Unfortunately it was not to be forever. The two other sects that they escaped with resumed their old ways. One, the Jakills, was completely exterminated by the other, the Priori, because of their scientific advancement and heresy they began to speak. Shortly thereafter the Priori left Cloral and were never heard from again.

The self-imposed isolation by the Romulans was broken this year when they broke their silence to commence border negotiations with the Federation. Soon after this they announced their interest in becoming involved in the Trade Station. They have yet to pay into or make trade with the station powers however this planning and public announcement seems to indicate that the Romulan’s have emerged from their isolation and will once again be taking an interest in international politics.

Breen Government Acts
Breen

For the first time since the Breen-Cardassian War the leaders of the Breen Government spoke publicly. It was a short message that indicates while the Breen Governmental regime has changed it is the same Breen efficiency that is running the government.

Following claims by the Cardassian Union that surrounded a large part of the new Empire the new Breen Government made its first official announcement while contesting the Cardassian Claim on the systems that surrounded the Breen. Little other action was done publicly, but it appears the Federation intervened on behalf of the Breen and the Cardassians removed their claims to all but one of the contested systems.

The Breen Government has remained silent since.

New Breen Class spotted
Breen

A new class of ship was observed this year in Breen Space. Part of the standard patrol fleet which startled the Quadrant a few years ago with its sudden appearance seems to have been joined by a new vessel. The ship which made no attempts to be unobserved by observation posts is even smaller than the Frigate Class weighing in at around 500 kilotons.

Interest Rates Fall
Sol

Quadrant wide Interest rates appear to be returning to normal after the hike caused by the freezing of funds by creditors, particularly within the Ferangi Alliance. Following the cancelation of debt by the Cardassians, the hike within the Ferangi Alliance caused interest to rise across the Quadrant.

With the reinstatement of Cardassian debt the Ferangi alliance has reopened credit lines and interest rates have finally begun to return to their pre-war levels.

Hyllus Refugees discovered
Jacora

Late this year a Jacorn survey vessel discovered a convoy of ships dead in space. Responders discovered that the convoy was filled with Hyllus refugees from the civil war that ripped their state apart.

The refugees were moved off of the transports as fast as possible and moved into hospitals where they could receive care for the injuries they sustained while fleeing as well as from the poor environment of the ships.

Talarian's Attack the Tzenkethi
Tzenketh

in a daring move the Talarian government moved some thousand ships across the border and engaged a relatively weak showing of the Tzenkethi Fleet. The Talarian forces while considerably weaker greatly outnumbered the enemy forces and overwhelmed them. The following months saw the bombardment of a Tzenkethi world from orbit and the removal of large portions of the Tzenkethi population in transport ships to unknown location in Talarian Space.

Late in the year the Tzenkethi Government attempted to send in a counter-invasion force to retake the world and drive back the Talarian offensive; however, the Talarian position had been reinforced with additional numbers of attack craft and after a bloody engagement the Talarians emerged the clear victors again.

Since the attacks in late September the Talarian offensive has stopped and remains grounded over their new planet. They have sent occassional raiding parties into Tzenkethi space to test Tzenkethi defenses.

The Talarians formally declared ownership of the world in mid December and transports were dispatched from Talar likely with citizens ready to inhabit the world.

Federation holds 250th Anniversary Spectacle
Sol

The year began when many of the historic ships from the Starfleet museum were reactivated for a tour of Federation worlds. Many different ships were activated including one of every class of starship that has operated under the name charter of the United Federation of Planets.

A secondary tour was held just behind the main one devoted to the most notable ships of Federation history. Among them were the NCC-1701-A Enterprise, and NCC-1701-B Enterprise, as well as re-christened NCC-1701 Constitution Class, NCC-1701-C Ambassador Class, and NCC-1701-D Galaxy Class. The NCC-1701-E Enterprise was allowed away from active duty to make stops with the notable ship tour at several major systems as well.

The Federation day Celebration late in the year was also a treat for the peoples of the Federation with full-day celebrations on every major Federation world followed by a live show broadcast from Earth where the 6 ‘Enterprises’ set off a series of 250 torpedoes over the course of an hour representing the 250 years of the Federations existence. The act was followed by fireworks displays on most Federation worlds.

Cardassians Wipe-out Talarian Forces: Rescue Tzenkethi
Cardassia

At the request of the Tzenkethi Government, Cardassian forces moved across the border into Talarian space midway through the year to rescue the captured Tzenkethi citizens. They were met with opposition on the border, nearly two thousand Talarian attack ships were present. When the Cardassian forces could not break away, they engaged the craft destroying all resistance.

It was later learned that the Cardassians retrieved a portion of the Tzenkethi, with reports that all others were lost to Talarian brutality. The Tzenkethi have released an official thanks to the Cardassian Union for their aid in the matter.

Tzenkethi Take Back Planet is Surprising Victory
Tzenketh

In a surprising move it appears that the Talarians recalled many of their warships from the Tzenkethi border to cover the losses suffered at the hands of the Cardassians. This was taken advantage of when the Talarian fleet arrived en-mass to the disputed world and destroyed the majority of the remaining fleet. The Tzenkethi have announced that they have reclaimed their world; however no word has been released on how they will handle the colonists already on the planet.

Large Tholian War Fleet Arrives at Trade Station
Neutral Trade Station

A large fleet of Tholian Warships arrived at the station with the monthly shipments from the Empire. The Fleet was composed of some 2050 Tholian Attack Sips as well as nearly 50 older Gorn models presumably inherited by the Tholians in the merging of the two states.

The Fleet was turned over to the Tzenkethi representatives on the station shortly after their arrival, and was taken back toward Tzenkethi space.

The action has been a matter of great protest among many. The Ferangi are rumored to have been deeply troubled by the appearance of the warships at the neutral station, as were many of the smaller powers. One of the Klingon Guards is reported to have physically struck the Tholian ambassador; however this claim cannot be confirmed as the Klingon Delegation quickly restricted itself to its own levels following the supposed incident.
