The REAL Avatar

Post by Mikey »

Well, I finally got around to bringing my daughter to see The Last Airbender. I still think 5 years old is a bit too young to be such a fan of the show, but there's nothing too untoward in it. Well, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The storyline was simplistic for obvious reasons, but still flowed rather well and ina linear, logical fashion - without any of Shyamalan's typical screwy mental U-turns. The 3D was incredibly unobtrusive, with very little scene planning that seemed to be done purely for the sake of the effect. Acting was adequate, and truer to the characters of the show than most films based on books or series - as was true of the whole film. All in all, I'd rate it in Shyamalan's top three.

There is only one way of avoiding the war – that is the overthrow of this society. However, as we are too weak for this task, the war is inevitable. -L. Trotsky, 1939

Not bad, but not as kick-ass as I expected. Still got no info as to what Flynn's been up to or which side he's on.
