Good review, and good episode - better than he gave it credit for I think. I'd've given it an 8-9ish.

Re: SFDebris: Our Man Bashir
Watching the ep on its own I'd give it a 7. Watching the review then rewatching the ep, I'd give it a 9. It really does bring out a lot of meaning for who Bashir is.

Plus some great Garak lines, and an extra point or two for the reference in the ep title.

Re: SFDebris: Our Man Bashir
If I recall correctly, the production staff hadn't even come up with Bashir's genetic enhancements by that point right?

Re: SFDebris: Our Man Bashir
That is a good point actually... most people use holodecks to imagine that they are this kind of super-hero type. Bashir uses it so he can stop pretending he isn't!
Give a man a fire, and you keep him warm for a day. SET a man on fire, and you will keep him warm for the rest of his life...
Re: SFDebris: Our Man Bashir
I wonder if they did have him as a genetically enhanced person yet or if it just worked out.

Even if they didn't, it makes perfect sense in hindsight.

Aye. That's what I was trying to point out -- for once the writers came up with something entirely random that makes sense with what we've already seen!Deepcrush wrote:Even if they didn't, it makes perfect sense in hindsight.

DS9 was pretty good about that.

Re: SFDebris: Our Man Bashir
Unlikely - OMB was in the first half of S4 while DBIP, when Bashir's GM was revealed, was just past the mid-point of S5. Still, I agree that it makes good sense in hindsight, and I wonder whether they'd already come up with the concept and were dropping subtle hints (as they did with Odo vis a vis Kira and Dax vis a vis Worf for quite a while before Heart of Stone and Par'Mach respectively).Nickswitz wrote:I wonder if they did have him as a genetically enhanced person yet or if it just worked out.

Re: SFDebris: Our Man Bashir
7.5 isn't a bad review. If you work it as a percentage that would make it better than 75% of the episodes out there. That's not that bad really.
