Battle lesson 101: Don't close with a ship that is a flaming wreck and can ONLY be effective in combat by ramming or self destructing.

He didn't close on it...he swung his ship around as Seafort backed up.
As for what's working:
Seafort has 2 forward facing PTL's
Big has 7 forward facing PTL's and 3 Aft facing PTL's
