Possible expansion on calculators page

Post by shran »

As for the drake equation, it might be interesting to put in two basic modes as starting values for the equation, one being the original parameters with which they were presented and another one based on current knowledge of the situation, to be further adapted as time progresses to match with current thoughts about it.

Would that be workable?

So you suggest the Admins still hide the true values and let the rest of the world try to figure them out on their own? :P

No, it was meant as two different scenarios. One would be the drake equation as people thought it was at the time the equation was first presented, another would be the current schools of thought regarding the Drake equation, at what values it would end if performed with up-to-date data of how many stars, planet formation chances, etc.

It's a possibility. What values would you use?

Ship strength could be expanded by temporal ships such as the Rhode Island, Megaprise, and so on.
Perhaps adding a feature to save your own creations with regards to custom ships.
A starship construction kit by allocating x resources, further and further deducing unit run, construction framework such as shipyards, etc, how powerful you can make your ship with minimum resources. Pretty much in the same steps we on the forum design battlestars, the Daystrom, the paladin, etc.
