Best Trek Game

Post by stitch626 »

With all the new games coming out (ok, not that many, but there have been a few in the past 5 years), I was wondering if they measured up to the old ones.
So when you tell us your opinion of best trek game, say the year as well.

My favorite game would have to be Judgment Rights (1995). It was a sequel to the 25th Anniversary game, which was also pretty good. It ran in DOS mode, so graphics were not very strong. But they were good enough that it didn't detract from the game. It was a point and click style, a puzzle game mostly, with some combat.
Downside, if you want to play it now its almost impossible to find, and still needs DOS to run, though best to use a DOS emulator then real MS DOS (because of some odd memory requirement that XP and up seem to not have).

I like Bridge Commander for combat, but for the best puzzle game I would say 25th anniversary, I personally like it the best, and then a Final Unity was close behind. I personally wasn't all that into Judgement Rights, must have been the villains or something, IDK...

Apparently for Stitch the first one was probably a little too mousey...

Ah, very good. My plan is working brilliantly.

Depends on.

Capturing the shows I would say Judgement Rites and A Final Unity.

For space combat. Starfleet Command I and II. (Best combat ever, don't know why everyone likes Bridge Commander so much. It is fun as long as the pretty short story goes, but the combat is repetitive and boring with no real options imho).

DS9 The Fallen is another gem. Most do not even know of it, but I was very positivly surprised by it.

The Fallen was very good, if I could get it to work. I got it quite late and vista never seemed to like it.

SFC I was a hellova lot of fun too.

SFC was one of the most buggy programs I've ever owned.

SFC III wasn't too bad as I recall.

Never had a problem with SFC, alas SFCIII was an extremely dumbed down version of the game imho.

Also it felt more like a TNG fanmade conversion of an older SFC and not like a "real" TNG Starfleet Command. What I never quite understood is, why there never was a Starfleet Command set in the Dominion War. Since the whole series is about naval space combat and the only era where you have constant naval space combat (without having to switch to an alternate universe) is the Dominion War I could not quite understand why when there finally arrived a TNG starfleet command the usual suspects where again only klingons and romulans. Probably copyright issues but nevertheless, it sucked balls imho.

They did have Star Trek: Dominion Wars or something like that. Which, while the game was good when it worked, it was so horrendously bugged that it died whenever you touched the icon.
