Death Korps Miscellanea

Post by Aaron »

This thread is for the miscellanea surrounding the armor themed game we've been discussing and questions around it.

So far I've been thinking of a Death Korps armored reconnaissance troop (platoon in armor lingo). Consisting of four - five vehicles, Salamander Scouts, Atlas ARV, Centaur Assault Carrier, Conqueror and Leman Russ MBT's and Chimera's (with squad) are all possible vehicles.

To simplify things I'm thinking of your vehicle having a set of BS/WS stats so that we don't have to fart around with crew having different stats (unless dismounted). If someone picks Chimera/Centaur then their squad would have it's own stats.

Thoughts, questions?

That sounds fine with me.

I call dibs on the Leman Russ. :P

I'm also going to go with a points system for vehicle and vehicle upgrades purchases, so many for an MBT, so many for sponsons, so many for improved comms etc. PC's and NPC's can choose from a list of issued kit though.

Everything here is in a state of flux. Things may change. Kindly do not complain.

Character Creation:

Take Guardsmen, Imperial World. Replace the starting kit with the stuff from the lists below. You do not need to take any weapons related skill, we are assuming your characters know how to use what they have.

Squad Commanders and Vehicle Commanders start at Sgt.

Lasguns/Carbines now have full auto: S/3/6, auto removes the reliable trait.

Current list of options. Subject to change.

List of vehicle options:

Leman Russ (Annihilator, Exterminator, Executioner, Punisher, Standard)
Conqueror
Salamander Scout
Chimera w/10 man squad (Multilaser, Heavy Bolter turret, Autocannon turret)

Atlas ARV
Hellhound

Vehicle upgrades:

Camo netting (+20 to concealment when employed)
Hunter Killer Missile
Improved Comms (+10 to checks involving comms. Grants long range abilities)

Searchlight (see as if it where normal daylight in the direction it is pointed)
Smoke Launchers
Pintle mounted weapon (heavy stubber, storm bolter, flamer [maybe])
Aux fuel tanks
Sponson mounts
Hull mount
Dozer blade (no penalty for moving in rough terrain, can dig fighting positions, clear ground etc)
Auspex (as manpack auspex. Range increased to 1 km)
Sensor Mast (as auspex. Increased height grants the ability to see over terrain obstacles. Contains pict recorder)
Pioneer Rack (basic tools: axe, sledgehammer, shovel, pry bar, saw)

Las Pistol
Las Carbine
Lasgun
Shotgun
Combat Knife

Infantry Weapons:

lasgun

I like the Punisher and Annihliator best from that list. The Executioner is sweet but depending on how this RP is set up we might not want to be saddled with a temperamental main gun.

I'm going to set a limit of a max of five vehicles plus one support track (Atlas), chances are I'll play that one. Mostly because we are Recce so that implies small and fast, it also means we get to play fast and loose with the TO&E but I'd like at least one actual scout with a sensor or a squad to do the actual peeking.

Well, there will be armor to engage but we'll be a fair ways from CAS or support. There will be a support track but there are limits to what they can do to fix things.

Well, no ammo really for the las cannons... or did I botch that name?

Use heavy bolter sponsons for anti-infantry work and maybe an autocannon in the hull for heavy infantry/light vehicles and you've got a tank who's main guns can fire all day long with secondaries that are easily supplied with ammo. Maybe slap a heavy stubber on the commander's copula and an HK missile on it to boot. Maybe not the ultimate battle tank but a very solid one for a recce group.

No, Annihilator is the one with the lascannons. It's listed as having 360 rounds for the main guns on Lexicanicum but I'm sure that lascannons run off the powerplant in the TT. We'll sort that bit out later.

Yep. Recce shouldn't be engaging in any standup fights anyways, or at least not long ones.

Yeah. If I recall the fluff of the Land Raider.... Crusader I think, is that it can hold more men because they removed the las cannons and the large generators required to power them. Not batteries, generators.
