The Second Time Around: XI on DVD

Post by Bryan Moore »

Hi folks, I swear I'm not dead. Just not posting too much/reading the forums anonymously.

I'm watching Star Trek with my father now, who was the person who first turned me on to it. Honestly, it's not doing it for me nearly as much as it did in theatres. Some great parts, some interesting stuff, but the more I think about the alternate timeline, the more it bugs me. Nonetheleses, still a good movie.

Watched it again; loved it again.

Honestly, the "Delta Vega issue" and the Kelvin don't bother me at all.

I'm just glad Star Trek is back. And popular now. Go figure.

Oh trust me, as someone who used to get made fun of for being a Trekkie, I'm thrilled it's popular now. The movie definitely has an epic feel to it, and I'm already scheduled to watch it again today and tomorrow, but somehow the excitement that made me return tto the theatres numerous times is gone =P

Ah. See, while I did see it on IMAX (awesome), I only saw it once. So, I'm still excited about it. :)

Actually I got lucky, I had a $5 credit at Borders, they were $22.99 on sale there for the 2 disc edition, and my dad had an additional 20% on any new release DVD. So he stopped buy after work and snagged it for like $14 or something. I've watched it 1.5 times since Tuesday, likely turning it on again tonight.

I got it on Blu-ray two days prior to it being released (the supplier messed up). Graham and I saw it at the cinema 10 times (9 times together and once each with other people). It's still as good as it was then. We've some blu-ray pictures coming soon to a website near you :)

I still haven't seen it, I stared at the display/package for a good ten minutes this morning at the grocers though.

I dunno, Ian. Sounds like the supplier did a good thing there. ;)

Saw it last night. Loved it even more. :D Got the two-disc edition.

Caught this the second time around. In the Kobayashi Maru scenario Starfleet Command orders the ship into the neutral zone. No "I just log it and move on" solutions to the problem.
