OVEG: The Q And The Grey

Kenneth Biller is a hack Part 1
Kenneth Biller is a hack Part 2

OVEG gets angrier as the review goes on.

That episode DID completely destroy all seriousness of the Q.

the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

I finally got around to watching it.

I've pretty much blanked out any memory of the Q in Voyager. He always seemed like a desperate bid for ratings on the show's part. Having them turn into everything Q professed them not to be was just awful. So many stupid things about that episode, it was awful even by Voyager standards.

Jesus. I never saw that episode, so I had no idea just how godawful it really was. :bangwall:

It's really really bad. Probably top ten worst Voyager episodes just for the bad writing. Probably top three if you start to actually think about it and how badly constructed it is.

Hell, I think I'd rather watch Threshold than this one. At least that episode was unintentionaly hilarious. This one just looks plain bad.

Depends, would you rather see science and logic raped or characterization raped.

Science every time - something can be scientifically ludicrous, but still be a good story. See Star Trek, Star Wars, BSG, B5, Doctor Who, the Culture, Stargate, etc, etc. Bad characterisation means a bad story.

Spot-on review. This ep was the VOY equivalent of Vogon poetry.

I'm with Seafort. Science being raped is a daily occurance in sci-fi. Hell, I'm a 40K fan, I'm more than used to non-sensical tech and science.
And in the process of fucking up science spectacularly, you can make something that's hilariously bad. Like Paris suddenly turning into a newt. Not so when it comes to raping and mutilating an entire race and making them pathetic.
