Commander Teaos had control of the bridge as the Captain and XO were dealing with the current situation.

"Sir we have seven hostiles at large with several more staying around the initial escape area, the rest of the prisoners along with several of our crew have been knocked out my the Anesthezine gas Lieutenant Mikey ordered pumped in?" The current opps officer informed him.

"Anesthezine?"

"Aye sir"

"Depressurize the cargo bay now, get that stuff out of their before it does permanent harm. Move in all available medical staff as soon as the other hostiles have been dealt with tell them to prepare for lung and eye trauma" Teaos said as he watched the reports come in from around the ship.

"Commander what's the situation" Fletchers voice rank out through the comm system.

"Seven hostiles at large sir, they appear to have split into three groups. One seems to be heading for engineering the other is heading towards the turboshaft, three of our security staff seem to holding the main entry though, the last group seems to have acquired heavy phasers from some of our crew and have blasted their way into a jeffries tube, they are heading up"

"Make sure they don't get to engineering!"

"Aye sir" Teaos said closing down that comm signal.

Tapping his comm badge again he called out "Commander Teaos to Commander Rochey"

"What is it?"

"You have three hostiles heading towards engineering; you and Lieutenant Monroe are the closet officers. Stop them before they get through"

Munro ran towards engineering with a randon crew member he had grabbed along the way. Coming to a halt as he neared the corner he held his hand up in a fist to tell the crew member behind him to stop also. She instead knocked into his shoulder. Turning his head slightly he glared at her from behind his helmet and makes a note to advise mandatory personal combat classes for all crew.

Bringing his weapon up to eye level instead of the chest level that star fleet seemed to be fond of training their officers he walked slowly around the corner. The crewman behind him following with a hand phaser out.

Right around the corner engineering was open with two dead crewmen sprawled on the ground. "They have weapons it seems." He murmured to the human next to him. Munro, crouching in a half standing position, crept into the main engineering bay. Several more dead crewman lay at his feet. One of the Caitains ran by him carrying a phaser. Munro quickly turned his weapon to address the new threat and fired two bursts in quick succession into the rebel's chest causing him to collapse dead.

Rochey came up behind him having arrived, "What's the situation?" He asked.

"Sir, one rebel down. The rest are in unknown positions." Munro replied, "Inferred is too difficult with the warp core around."

The two Caitans reached the turbolift, and stepped through the doors. They took it toward the shuttlebay, probably hoping to spring the others once they had shut down power or something. But they didnt get far.
The turbolift suddenly halted, stopping 3 decks short of their destination. The leading Caitan, a tall broad man, slammed his fist into the wall. When nothing happened, he wrenched the door open, and pounced upon an unsuspecting crewmember who had been passing. He took her Phaser, and ordered the other to follow. The other, a younger more slender female, did so, but only at a distance. It would appear the leader was feared quite readily among his crew.
"Right into the trap," Darel said. He checked a chronometer on the wall. Perfect. 5...4...3...2...1...
The deck shook lightly as a plasma conduit overloaded, blowing the walls of the corridor out on top of the leader. He was slammed into the wall. And did not get up. The female took his phaser, and began running toward the nearby Jeffries tube.
"Oh no you dont," Darel said under his breath, swung out from the corridor junction he had been hid in, and fired a phaser blast at her. It narrowly missed, streaking into a crew quarters door. She spotted him, and fired back, the bolt slamming into a panel in front of him.
"Come on...come on..." He said to himself, configuring for a wide angle beam...Another phaser blast struck the wall, this time slightly behind him, whistling past his right ear. Done!.
He span round again and just before she unloaded a stream of nadions into his body, fired the wide angle beam. It sliced across the corridor, like the wave of an ocean, and swept her to the floor. He walked over to her, checked her pulse, which seemed stable, and took her phaser.
"Ensign Darel to bridge," He spoke, pressing his communicator.
"Go ahead, ensign." Came the reply from commander Teaos.
"Hostile break out heading toward shuttlebay neutralized. It would be advisable to get a medic and a security team to 'escort' this pair to where they belong."
"Very good ensign. Sending the personnel down now."

'W'trisk, report!"

''Captain?" said Mikey in surprise. Fletcher hadn't struck him as the type of CO to be on the scene in a crisis, but supposed that recent events had inspired a more hands-on approach. ''I've locked down the shuttlebays, and flooded the holding area with anesthezine to prevent further activity. I couldn't lock out the turbolifts or activate containment fields until Munro's teams were on the scene."

''Good work," said Fletcher slowly, as if unsure of himself. He seemed relieved to have officers with crisis experience on hand. ''Current status?"

''Cargo Bay 1 is secure. Current estimate is six to eight hostiles at large; Van Pelt is working on pinning down the numbers and movements. Ge'haan was down here when the alert sounded but hasn't reported." A brief electrical sizzling followed by a sharp crack was heard - Mikey quickly punched up a report on a nearby wall interface. ''Plasma discharge on deck 12, section 42, sub 25. Looks like Ge'haan is down there with a small team."

''I'm on my way," said Fletcher. ''Coordinate the situation here."

''Sir? Shouldn't I-" Mikey paused as he detected Fletcher's increased heart rate and shallow breathing, and thought of the USS Gage's captain frozen with indecision. ''Aye, sir!" he said simply. ''Lt. Munro!" he shouted into the intercom, "what is your status?"

"Teams en route, you can lock the lifts in... 90 seconds. On my way to neutralize hostiles near main engineering, proceeding under orders to shoot to kill," came the terse reply.

"NEGATIVE! Send one team down to deck 12 to rendezvous with Ge'haan and Captain Fletcher; ALL personnel are to keep weapons on normal stun - non-lethal force ONLY."

"I'm sorry, lt. commander," said Munro ironically, "but I'm under orders-"

"Listen to me, lieutenant," growled Mikey. "The Captain told me to oversee this operation on-site, and I'm telling you what is to happen. Every one of those prisoners is a potential source of information. There are several friendlies, including the Captain, involved. Further, our conduct - and you - are already under scrutiny; if you kill one of those prisoners, YOU'LL be the one to answer for it and your orders be damned." Mikey paused for a second, catching his breath, and then said, "Of course, outside this site, there shouldn't be any friendlies involved, and you may respond in kind... but you're NOT hunting - are we clear?"

"Clear, sir," came the sullen reply. As Mikey closed the intercom channel, a pair of prisoners approached him from behind in an attempt to be stealthy. He rolled his shoulders, loosening them up, and grinned a feral grin - he could certainly use a little recreation.

"Sir we have two hostiles in a jeffries tube and making their way up. None of our teams are near to intercept" The opps officer informed Teaos as he paced the bridge.

The Commander stopped pacing and gripped the banister behind where the Captain usually sits.

"Computer initiate total ship lock down Authorization Commander Teaos Whitshire Alpha-Charlie-Weasel-Delta-Niner-Zero-Omega" The Commander said as he watched the main viewer currently showing the position of all known crew in the hostile controlled area.

Three high pitch whistles sounded out across the entire ship. All the crew and possible some of the prisoners knew what was coming in thirty seconds. The ship wide lock down was only ever initiated in case of the ship being boarded by hostiles. It sent every door in the ship into lock down, not only did the close but the sealed shut. There is no way to open them barring blowing a hole through them. The only way around is through Jeffries tubes, the home field advantage of know ones own ship came in very handy.

All none vital systems also shut down, Computer access was locked down and no one could do anything who was no on the bridge. The computers on deck weren't closed down they were totally cut off from the main computer core.

The Commander knew that when the whistles sounded all crew would retreat to either their posts or their decks evac point. Only the Security staff and officers would remain out in the corridors to confront the hostiles.

The only way to remove the lock down was for two of the three Commanders to authorize it from the bridge. Thus the lock down wasn't coming down till either Fletcher or Rochey made their way back.

One final whistle indicated the lock down completing. Unlike while under red alert where the lights turned red and dimmed under lockdown they stayed white but doubled in intensity to show up any hostiles.

"Good luck sir" Teaos thought as he slumped back into the command chair.

M'Real looked out the view port for a few minutes, the ship's alarms triggering a flashback to when her piloting career ended.

---
3-years ago...

"Mustang Three, this is Mustang Four has our target been confirmed?" asked M'Real.

"This is Mustang Three, we're still waiting on AWACS to confirm," came Blackstar's voice. "Eagle Eye, we only have five minutes till the target gets enough altitude to go to warp."

M'Real shook her head. A pair of fresh out of the academy Lieutenant's flying old model versions of Peregrine-class fighters that would've been retired to training if the Dominion war hadn't happened. It was only dumb luck that led to her and her sister trying to intercept what might be a war criminal.

"This is AWACS Eagle Eye, local Intel says target confirmed. Prosecute the target."

This is Mustang Three. Mustang Four and I will prosecute," said Blackstar. "Okay Sis, let's take that ship out."

"Mustang Four roger," said M'real. It only took a moment for the two fighters to close in and get a target lock on the freighter.

"Mustang Three, Fox Three."

"Mustang Four, Fox Three."

"Negative hold shot, repeat don't shoot. We got a negative. Two freighters are using identical IFFs. This is the wrong one. Families with children are on board!"

"WHAT! Torpedoes are already away!" said Blackstar.

M'Real watched as Blackstar slammed hir fighter's engines to max impulse, trying to get in front of the torpedoes. "Blackstar don't do it!"

"Too late, Sis." Blackstar's fighter cut in front of the torpedoes path. M'Real watched helplessly as the two torpedoes slammed into Blackstar's fighter.

Blackstar's Peregrine was heavily damaged and trailing smoke and losing altitude quickly. M'Real made a dive, bringing her fighter under Blackstar's ship pulling up slowly, trying to slow hir decent. M'Real remembered blacking out, due to an overload in the inertia dampening system shortly before the two ships crashed into the planet below.

---

It was three months before M'Real recovered from the broken bones, cuts, and other injuries. Another month before she had finished physical therapy. Her adopted sister was both lucky and unlucky. Blackstar only suffered one injury, but a rather major one. The total loss of hir entire left arm. Shi had a mechanical prosthetic to compensate until the massive injury would fully regenerate. With Federation technology the arm would be healed in only another ten years or so.

M'Real sighed. While she recovered physically, her reflexes had been shot, because of the long time spent recuperating. Her fist clenched in frustration. She was on a combat vessel, with a fire fight going on right now, and there was nothing she could do to help.

M'Real was brought out of her thoughts when she heard a panel opening behind her. She saw an old scared Caitian leading several subordinates, pointing a phaser at her. "What?"

"Who are you?"

"What?"

"Where are we?"

"WHAT?"

"Is that all you can say?" The scared Caitian asked.

"But you're supposed to be dead," said M'Real.

"Well, I'm not. Now I don't know who you are but I'm guessing you know how to get to the bridge through these jeffery tubes. And if nothing else I'm sure you'd make a good hostage," said the Caitian. "Now lead the way, or be the next to die."

M'Real felt she had no choice, so she began leading the old Caitian and his men around the Jeffery Tubes. She was careful about breaking her combadge. Normally off planet a combadge would emit a distress signal when the casing was damaged. But on the ship, one of the bridge officers saw the transmission and opened a channel with the still otherwise functioning combadge, so that the entire bridge could hear. "So mind talking a bit?"

"What could we possibly talk about?"

"Well, let's see. I already know that you're going to use me as a hostage and guide to get to the bridge of the ship and take over the Daystrome. So let's talk about what I don't know. Like why you're doing all this?" asked M'Real. Hoping the old Caitian would gloat now that he felt he was in the dominant position.

"As a fellow Caitian I'll expect you to understand. Vengeance, for the death of my entire family," he said. He paused as he followed her up a ladder. "Nothing is more important then family. But the Tholians killed them for no reason. And the Federation swept it under the floor to avoid a diplomatic incident. A war now would destroy the Tholians, and weaken the Federation to the point when the other powers will take advantage and destroy them."

"And you were going to do it with just a single Freedom-class starship?" asked M'Real.

"No," he said. "I've been planning to capture a true federation warship for a long time. With the power of the Daystrome at my disposal vengeance will be mine."

"You're right, family is important," said M'Real, "and when one is betrayed by another they'll willing pay back the betrayal."

"What are you talking about?" asked the old Caitian. He was so curious about what M'Real was saying that he hadn't noticed that they were just one tube away from the brig, or that all the hatches and doors had locked behind them.

"Didn't you ever wonder what happened to your one surviving daughter?" asked M'Real.

"She's in the care of a family friend. Who can give her a better life then I could," said the old Caitian. "If she ever finds out about me, I only prey that she can forgive me. But with luck she'll never know."

M'Real opened the hatch, "oh, she's had a spree of bad luck, but her luck is about to change." She walked out of the tube, and walked to the safety of the security team waiting for her. "This is why most men don't ask for directions."

The old Caitian hung his head in defeat. Then it dawned on him as he realized what the girl had said. "M'Real'rikka?"

"I shortened it to M'Real. M'Real'rikka died with the news of the rest of her family's death. The last remnants of that girl have been swept away because of your return." She turned her back to him. It was all she could do to keep herself from clawing her father's face off.

The security team returned the people she had helped them capture to the brig cells. Though it was crowded for now, it would be sorted out once order was restored to the ship.

The Captain turned pointing his phaser at the curve of the deck where foot steps were quickly coming around. "Hold your fire Captain." Munro said as he cleared the corner.

"Munro what are you don't here?" Fetcher asked lowering his weapon.

"The Commander felt you could use assistnace." Munro replied. "There are two subjects in the immediate area according to internal sensors." Munro walked past the captain, holding his phase rifle at eye level as he neared where the hostiles should be.

Switching to inferred he saw the fading image of foot steps facing the opposite direciton. A heat source seemed to be coming from around the corner judging from the aura of red.

Munro held up his hand for the Captain to freeze and slowly lowered himself to a prone firing position. "Munro to the bridge. There any crewmen within 15 meters of me besides the captain?" He asked as he clicked his com badge.

"Negative sir but the rebels are." Came the response.

Turning slightly Munro whispered to the captain, "Sir, may I borrow your phaser?"

Fetcher frowned, "What weapon am I going to use then?" He asked.

"Sir with me around you won't need one." Fetcher grudgenly handed him a phaser. Munro set it to overload slowly crouching back into a standing position he tossed it towards the corner. The weapon bounced off the wall landing towards the mysterious heat source and exploded.

Two screams were heard and quickly Munro charged foward. A badly burned Caitain stepped in his way, dazed. Munro swung the butt of his rifle around knocking the alien's head back and sending him sprawling on the ground. Munro then fired a burst of stunned phaser fire into the chest of the other one who was laying on his back.

Commander Teaos was standing behind the command chair gripping the back of it with both hands. Watching we reports come in from around the ship and the life signs readings moving around he was trying to plan his next move. He knew he had over reacted, sure he had secured the ship and prevented the prisoners doing any serious damage in their break out attempt, but he had also severely restricted the movement of the team apprehending them.

"Sir the Captain and Lt Monroe are approaching the bridge" The opps officer informed him.

"About time" Teaos said as he made his way to the turbo shaft door. Just as he stepped up to it there was the sound of something pounding on the other side of the door.

Entering the unlocking code for the bridge door Teaos looked to see the doors open revealing Lt Monroe hefting up a phaser rifle onto the floor then proceed to pull himself up scooping up the rifle and checking out the bridge. Captain Fletcher pulled himself up moments latter, standing up he dusted off his uniform.

"Report Commander"

"All but two hostiles are accounted for; the last two are currently in engineering and seem to have taken out the majority of the Current shift. Commander Rochey is in the area along with two security personal near by. There have been several fatalities with the escapees and our crew; we are waiting for final reports. Lt Mikey is handling the situation down near the initial break out" Teaos said as the Captain took the command chair.

"Very well Commander. We'll remove the lock down as soon as Commander Rochey takes care of the last of the escapees"

Rochey had just entered Main Engineering when the lockdown went into action. Moving quickly to avoid being crushed by the heavy blast doors that rumbled into place to seal the area off, he nodded at the wisdom of the move. It was a bit excessive, but it would keep the escapees contained rather well. The only problem, he thought as he looked around at the numerous dead bodies of the engineering staff, was that they had already gained access to the very area they had been trying to keep them out of.
Checking the rifle was switched up two settings above lethal, just to make sure, and making sure the two security ensigns he had ordered to follow him were still there, he crept slowly towards the warp core at the centre of the room.

"Sir!" One of the ensigns whispered urgently, gesturing towards a console at the far end of the room with his phaser. After a moment Rochey saw what the ensign had seen; something was moving around behind it.
He had been about to order the two ensigns to aproach the console from the left, when a brown-furred Caitian stood up from behind it and hit one of the ensigns square in the chest with a round from a phaser rifle. At the same time the second Caitian, who had been lurking on one of the overhead walkways, began firing down at the two other Federation crewmen.

Firing a few unaimed shots to keep the two attackers' heads down, Rochey ducked behind a nearby console, and he saw the ensign do the same just across from him.
Rochey made a quick glance out from behind his cover to check the enemies' positions before ducking back down again. The first one was still crouched behind the console, the second was standing in plain view on the walkway.

Amateur Rochey thought. He gestured for the ensign to keep the first Caitian down, and watched as he did so by leaning out of cover and laying down a barrage of phaser fire. As soon as the first Caitian had stopped firing and ducked back down, the Commander leaned out from behind his console and took a quick shot at the Caitian on the walkway. The high-powered shot missed the prisoner, but blew the floor out from under him. With a yell, the Caitian was propelled over the railing, landing head-first on the ground below with a loud crack.
Rochey looked around just in time to see the ensign, distracted by the death of the second attacker, take a hit to the side of the head. The ensign fell to the ground limply.

Damn. Rochey thought. So much for the advantage of numbers. The first Caitian proved to be a far more experienced oponent than his dead friend, keeping the Commander pinned down, opening fire every time the Tholian went to glance out from behind his cover.
Rochey was wondering just how the hell he was going to take this one down, when an idea hit him.

He ducked out of cover with his rifle, making it look like he was about to take a shot at his agressor, and then ducked back in again. The Caitian reacted just as he'd hoped; he opened fire the moment he saw the Commander was out of cover. Rochey just barely made it back behind the console without being hit by any of the Caitian's shots. As soon as he was no longer visible, he gave out a yell as if he had been hit. The Caitian prisoner stopped firing, listning carefuly. Rochey gave another yell, doing his best to impersonate a dying soldier.
Grinning happily, the Caitian pirate strode over to inspect his kill, phaser pistol held loosely at his side, and got his head blown clean off his shoulders as the Commander stood up and sent a round straight into the merc's skull.

"Idiot." Rochey commented, looking around to make sure the area was secure. After putting a shot into the head of the Caitian he had blown off the walkway for good measure, he called up whoever was manning the bridge.

"This is Commander Rochey to the bridge." He reported. "Main Engineering is secure. Both escapees are dead. I also have to report the loss of..." He paused as he counted the bodies strewn around the room. "seven engineering staff, and two security ensigns."
"You've all been selected for this mission because you each have a special skill. Professor Hawking, John Leslie, Phil Neville, the Wu-Tang Clan, Usher, the Sugar Puffs Monster and Daniel Day-Lewis! Welcome to Operation MindFuck!"

Within ten minutes Boush was walking around the limp bodies around the hanger bay cooridor that had been flooded with knockout gasses. Next to him several medics and security personal checked the fallen crewmen and prisoners. Inside the cargo bay the four guards on duty were killed. The two outside had been put into critical condition. "Munro to the Bridge, we have four more fatalities to report." He says into his comlink.

"Sir the guards shot a good dozen of the prisoners it seems." One of the medics said scanning the fallen Caitains, "On stun of course."

Boush walked over to the cargo bay doors. They hadn't been pried open or blasted open. It was as if the doors had just decided to become locked in the open position. They had inside help. That much was clear.

Over the course of the next hour the prisoners were chained up around the shower stalls and beds as per orders from Munro. The dead crewmen were removed to the morg which was already full. Once everything seemed to be in order Murno left to prepare his report on the security breach and possibly M'Real's connection to it.

Overall it seemed that one entire shift of engineering was killed and security lost about another shift in total numbers.

"The Biscean flu," said Jon, echoing the Doctor's earlier comments, "The Biscean bloody flu."

Jon had been confined to his quarters for the past few days after coming down with the rare flu strain. Innoculations had been issued to all crew members and - as Jon wasn't surprised to hear - he had the only reported case of the 'outbreak'. Visitors were sparse. He could tell, even though the innoculations were clearly doing their job, that people were a bit wary of his violent coughing and varying moods. Grahame Niles had occasionally visited, as had Anker Zionex, though they kept their visits to a maximum of five minutes, as per doctor's orders, just keeping Jon updated on the rapidly changing situation, though he had often used the limited information on his desk console.

Partly due to his slow, yet noticable, recovery, and partly due to the rapidly deteroiating situation on the ship - immediately after the lockdown - he discharged himself from confinement (without the doctor's knowledge). The lockdown, of course, made his journey to the bridge more troublesome than normal for him, but it was far easier for him than others onboard. That was the advantage of overseeing the tactical and strategic refits of the Daystrom, aswell as being onboard for nearly a year. A few little codes here, a few little false alerts there, and every now and again a short reroute through a jeffries tube...

He entered the bridge via a ladder to the conference room, and got a few funny looks as he did so. He still looked slightly pale, but they were more confused by how he had traversed eleven decks and twenty six sections in a lockdown. He gave a forced smile and nod to the bridge crew and moved to his station, relieving an Ensign from it, who proceeded to take up a position at the master system's display.

"Sir, I'm reading large amounts of phaser fire in engineering. If they hit the warpcore..." reported Jon.

"Engage a level seven forcefield around the anti-matter injectors," said Teaos as he punched some buttons on the Captain's chair. "Who's in there?"

"I'm getting two lifeforms - a Tholian - and a Caitian," said Jon as he simultaneously engaged the forcefield.

A few seconds later Captain Fletcher and Lieutenant Munro stepped out of the lift with Teaos greeting them, and immediately Rochey's voice came through the speakers, reporting the end of the firefight, and the casualties. The mood of the bridge became very sombre and everybody's head sunk.

The computer's voice seemed to echo in the silent bridge. "Security lockdown offline. Systems returning to normal operating parameters."

The lights brightened slightly, and reports of all kind began pouring in to all stations.

Darel walked through the doors of the bridge, phaser in hand. It was chaos. Utter chaos. The only word that could desribe it. Reports flooding in as if a flood barrier had been destroyed, People rushing around with a number of tasks to deal with. Darel ducked and dived to his console. Turning it on, a message greeted him.
"Off duty, effective immediate. 2 hours break. - TAC". He turned to the comms panel where a lieutenant winked at him. He smiled, and left the room.
He noticed that a holodeck wasn't occupied, so he decided to impromptu take it over. He had an hour to work off until a reservation had been made so he'd make use of it.
Walking through the door, he called out "computer, Darel Gamma 024." The yellow/black grid phased into an image of a countryside home. Flowers covered the garden, Incaris lilies sat among the fronds of Vergantium flowers. The cottage was of a deep red metallic construction, with a steaming chimney and hanging baskets filled with Rustaan Roots.
He walked up the gravel pathway, and walked through the door. And was greeted by the sweet smell of Fulrana cooking. A deep, herbal smell, pungent yet delicate. He walked through the archway into the kitchen, and spotted L'dan. She was wearing a silken dress of almost pure white, contrasting her dark flowing hair.
"Good afternoon, my dear." he said. She turned and smiled.
"hello Darel. How's things on Daystrome?" She asked. She knew all about what she was and his life. She was a curious soul, and often endorsed his contemplative nature.
"oh the Caitan terrorists decided to stage a breakout," He said casually, a streak of cardassian arrogance flaring there. Her face dropped.
"Oh my god! are you and the crew okay?"
"unfortunately some of our crew died. But i am okay," he replied, grim of complexion.
"Well...I hope it wasnt too costly. I'm sorry." She said, patting his shoulder.
"ah dont worry. Anyway, your cooking will remedy that!" he said, laughing.
She smiled and returned to the brew.

"So I hear you chicken pox" Teaos said as the lockdown was removed.

"It was Bisc-" Hewer responded before being cut off by the captain.

"Monroe I want you to secure the remaining prisoners in the cargo bay, if we suffer another break out on your watch I shall be displeased. Commander I want you to go asses the situation in engineering with Commander Rochey" Fletcher said as he made his way to his ready room to filter through the reports coming in.

~*~

Teaos and Monroe took the turbo lift out of the bridge together on their way to their assignments.

"You may have noticed Commander that we have a mass break out of passengers hardly a week after Lt M'Real joined us. A crewman who has done nothing but subvert commanding offers authority and jeopardize ship security" Monroe said from with in his environmental suit.

"You think she had a hand in this?" Teaos said turning to look at the Breen, not that he could get a read of him through the suit.

"I think it would be unwise to not consider it, especially since I have received reports from several members of my security crew about something happening between her and the rebel leader" Monroe said as the door to the lift opened at his stop.

"I'll inform Commander Rochey, no doubt he will agree with you" Teaos said as the doors slid close and the lift continued to his destination at engineering.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

As per the Captain's orders the remaining prisoners from the brig were moved to the cargo bay, chained around as many immovable objects as they could find.

Motioning one of his trustworthy ensigns towards him, "I want the ship to begin replicating partitians and gates. Metal ones."

The ensign nodded, "Where do you want them installed?"

"Here in the storage bay. Have them form ranks around the shower and feeding slots. No more than one prisoner per cell."

"But sir with a *number* prisoners they're going to be crammed in there awefully tight." The ensign pointed out.

"Some died remember? And besides, they've lost their privledges to move around. I want mechanical locks and electrical ones. We'll bring the food to them. Install a chemical toilet. If medical gives you any heat over it send them to me. You have tweleve hours."

The ensign ran off grabbing some of his friends and running outside. Munro looked around one last time and decided to head to the piloting command. The pilots haven't been used much so far and if their NCO would let him he would perfer to have them on security detail. Being about a dozen men short and having so many prisoners even with the new security he was installing was asking for trouble.

Hewer, for the first ever time, sat proudly down in the Captain's chair, taking in a panoramic view of all the crew at their stations. Ensign Jones sat at tactical infront of him, Lieutenant Niles was co-ordinating the security and tactical effort from the security office after the recent shipboard battle, and Anker Zionex was reducing the readiness of the fighters in the shuttlebay.

"Engineering to Bridge," rang Rochey's voice across the intercom, "Disengage the forcefield around the warp core."

Jon nodded over to Jones and the Ensign took down the forcefield.

"The warp drive is back online," said the chief engineer who had not been in engineering during the firefight, and who regained control after the forcefield was disengaged. Other engineers were pouring into engineering, as were medical teams who, more often than not, were requiring transports to the morgue.

Teaos' voice came next, "Lieutenant, take us to Starbase Forty One. Engineering out." Rochey's voice could be heard in the background organising the removal of the bodies and engineering's priorities.

"Helm, set a course for Starbase-" but at that moment Mikey stepped off the turbolift, and Hewer stood up to give over the bridge command. Mikey held up his hand and beckoned him to continue - Hewer gave a quick smile, "Starbase Forty One. Warp 7," Hewer sat down again, "Engage."

Mikey walked up to the Captain's ready room and walked inside, reporting on the situation and his co-ordination efforts.

Back on the bridge, the viewscreen showed the stars as they began to vibrate and then quickly zoomed past, and a gentle hum from the engines could be heard.
