Wesley as a Girl
A comment in another thread made me wonder. Would Wesley have been more tolerable as a girl, Leslie? No major changes aside from the sex.
Hell if you want even keep Leslie's bumbling attempts to find a girlfriend in. I'm curious though, could boobs have made the character tolerable?

Nah, Seven of Nine was pleasant to look at. But I didn't care for her character too much. The character was just an attempt to pull the ratings back up.

I liked her more then most of the characters. She may have been there for looks but she played the role well enough.

Oh you were just wanting her to show up at your door and say 'resistance if futile.' No wait a minute, that was my dream......sorry.Deepcrush wrote:I liked her more then most of the characters. She may have been there for looks but she played the role well enough.

I always thought it was pretty ironic that the two most inhuman characters (Doc and Seven) wound up being the most likable and interesting.Deepcrush wrote:I liked her more then most of the characters. She may have been there for looks but she played the role well enough.

On topic, I can't see how making Wesley a chick would change anything aside from attracting horny teens but there was already Yar, Troi and Crusher for that.
Re: Wesley as a Girl
The problem with the Wesley character was the basic premise. You've got a kid (whose literally still in school, genius or not) that has taught himself (?) starship operations, and as such can function as a starship officer better than one who has graduated the academy and has years of service. His character is so uber that even though he hasn't managed to get laid yet, he's saved the starship a dozen times in a couple of seasons
He's then given an "acting" commission (whatever the hell that is) and suddenly takes the alpha shift flight conn position (again, with no proper training and bumping all of these other officers out of the way. Picard must have a list of grievances a mile long). I guess nobody ever wondered what happened if the kid froze in a firefight, hell he's SuperWes after all.
Then, they make the commission official and put him into a uniform ( a slap in the face for all those who actually had to WORK for the uniform). He saves the day a few more times before he goes off to the academy, where he turns into a lying, insubordinate, screw up.
Even if Megan Fox could have played him, it wouldn't have helped.

Re: Wesley as a Girl
Him being a her wouldn't have helped. The problem with the character wasn't the gender; it was the character itself.
