Fan Reviews on Main Site

Reading through those is good for a laugh, that's for sure.

I love how some of the supposed "Trek fans" still haven't wrapped their tiny minds around the relatively simple concept of an alternate universe.

TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY over here........ ........Trek XI over here.

Wow, that was difficult. I think I just busted a gasket.

They say things like "fix the timeline". "Fix" what? It's a different universe, you blockheads! I guess they don't get that this was written around the modern "multiverse" theory of quantum physics, and not the "Back to the Future" style bullsh*t time travel of previous 'Trek.

THERE'S NOTHING TO FIX, IMBECILES! THE ORIGINAL TOS, TNG, DS9 AND VOYAGER TIMELINE IS STILL THERE!

Morons.

Speaking of which...

Looks like someone else still hasn't got the "alternate universe" bit.

Well, Trek fans can be stubborn after all. I think its a requirement.
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

Jesus Christ.

This is going to be the Trek version of the "5 Mile Executor" bitchfest. I can sense it.

It's worse even that that. The SSD idiocy was an argument of visuals versus written stuff. This is visuals AND explicit statements on the part of the producers versus "waa, waa, I don't like it".

Aye, at least the 5-Mile-Executor had some grounding in canon. This is just dumb.

I'm surprised how many reviews the movie gets and how few and by few I mean zero, so many well remembered episodes of the various series there are.

Well, most of the series hasn't aged very well (early TNG especially). I think the only reason I remember TOS so fondly was because I grew up with it and it was mostly camp, which I like.

There are definitely some issues with VFX and the occasional afterschool special episode but I think if you focus on the story some of them still hold up well. Admittedly its on an episode by episode basis but I think a great deal of it still works.

I grew up with TOS as well and I remember the Great Trek Drought (he,he I like that). I was 5 when I remember first watching Star Trek (1970), my God I'm gettin' in years, it was a rollicking good adventure. Then when I could recognize what campy looked like, that just added another dimension to the enjoyment. As I got older I started recognizing what the moral of the story was and I liked how TOS gently pointed it out in most episodes, only in a few did they slap you in the face with it. Another thing was that it did not take itself all too seriously, something that the other series did waaaaay too much.

I very seldom go over to Bernd's sight any more, just to see what new crazyness Atolm come up with, love that guys designs.

Maybe if it was drawn this way it would make more sense:
ENT
^
TOS STXI
TNG
DS9
VOY
Just a thought. :)

EDIT: sorry, for some reason it's messing up my formatting. just imagine that the ^ is just above (in between) TOS and STXI.
