Miniature Enterprise D Refit

Just thought I'd share a few pics of a neat miniature I bought for $8 at the local hobby shop. It was a grab bag, so I wasn't sure what I'd be getting, but one of the employees helped me guess at which one might be the Enterprise D by fondling the package and looking at the bar code. He will receive 10 cool points when I take over the world.

It's about 10cm long - about iPhone-size, actually. I bought it thinking I could cast a mold of each of its separate snap-together pieces, then create kitbashes (YAY for kitbashes! We need more of those!), but I'm inexperienced, and I think I'm going to experiment with easier things for starters.

You can definitely see the imperfections, but for the money, who cares! It's a good looking mini. Now it sits on my desk, reminding me of my geeky obsession with Trek.

Very nice. How good are you with fine detail brushes? You could probably improve upon that if you wished.

Not bad for $8, if your good with an airbrush you could probably turn that into an excellent model.

Too bad I'm terrible with my hands. Well, at least hobby wise...

So, what are your hands good for that isn't a hobby?

I went through my old storage stuff during the move, and I found my Star Trek micro machines! Sets number 1 and 2!!!

I used to have all but one of them (the set with the Ferengi ship). Now I'm down to 12 ships. Wish I had paid attention to where I put them.

I used to have a ton of those, but they ended up getting quite beaten up, and I threw them out several years ago.

They were neat, but kinda flimsy, and by the time I got them my imagination was thoroughly suppressed by television.

And then again at...

I mean, there's toys... and then there's toys.

:laughroll:

Okay, I'll clarify: I owned Ninja Turtles when I was 12.

I still don't own any adult toys, though I really should.
