Has anyone here noticed a similarity between the solutions of the second season ENT episode "Marauders," where a deuterium refinery is robbed by Klingons on a regular basis, and the 1970's Mel Brooks Film "Blazing Saddles?" Both have the element of sending the enemy to the wrong place, by either moving, or making a mockup of the town.

I've not seen Blazing Saddles but that ENT episode recycled many classic Western plot elements. From teaching the miners to defend themselves, moving the town and even letting the Klingon's leave at the end.

That was another boring episode. I half expected to see Dr. Sam Beckett "leap" into Archer at the beginning and say "Oh Boy."

That would've been awesome, actually.

Hell of a crossover. Al appears on the bridge and starts chasing around T'pol........yum.

Yeah, this episode was just a western in a sci-fi setting. Dunno how closely it resembles Blazing Saddles, though, since I've never seen it.

I recommend it highly! But remember, it's Mel Brooks fare - gotta be in the right mood for it...

I seem to recall a Roger Moore episode of "Maverick" that featured the same plot.

1) Blazing Saddles is awesome.
2) The Klingons were idiots
3) My biggest problem is that I couldn't take T'pol's little "martial arts" maneuver she taught the colonists seriously (really, it works if the guy swings his weapon one way) and I could take her seriously fighting the Klingons even less.

It made me laugh a little actually, it was kinda funny, then again, it's ENT, we can't give it much credit.

That wasn't unique to Blazing Saddles. I can't remember the name of it, but there was his low budget western I remember watching with my grandfather where maps were changed and a mockup of a gold mine was created so when the bandits came to raid the miners, they were trapped. I'm sure that wasn't the first use of that idea either.

I can't decide which had the funniest campfire scene - Blazing Saddles or Star Trek V.

Wish they would have hired Mel to write for Enterprise
