Purity Class Frigate
The latest small scale ship to enter service with the Ariel Republic Starfleet, the Purity class was the first successful starship design from what was previously a small scale munitions manufacturer. This new type of warship was designed specifically to be an Outrider, a long range scout with advanced sensor systems and a powerful engine fit. This small time design was chosen out of many other far more reputable manufacturers, and put into full scale production.
The Purity class was never meant to be a full scale combatant. As such, she is armed with mainly small rapid fire guns for taking on fighters and frigates. 4 twin bank turrets cover all axis of attack. She also carries a triple bank missile launcher, with 30 missiles stored in the adjacent compartments. The missiles give the Purity the firepower to take larger destroyers, and possibly a light cruiser in numbers. The sensor systems are configured in a completely new way to maximize sensor efficiency. The catch is, the solution was so simple, it left the major manufacturers dumbfounded. All ships prior to the Purity had one, single sensor array that managed the entire detection ability of the ship. The Purity has 4 separate sensor arrays to manage the Port, Starboard, bow and stern quadrants, meaning more power can be directed into a lesser area, increasing the sensor resolution. The sensors fitted aren't technically that advanced, but the concentration makes them much more efficient. The sensors are stealth detection enabled, meaning stealth vessels can also be detected.
Overall, this vessel has proved incredibly capable due to her high speed, exceptional maneuverability and detection ability. She's popular with crews, as there is high accommodation standards for the 55 personnel aboard. The names tend to be three word, an example being the first of class; the Height Of Purity.
