Defiant Class

Post by Lt. Staplic »

K, I was looking over the stats on the Defiant class the other day and I got confused according to the page the Defiant has
4 Rapid Fire phaser pulse cannons
1 Type X Paser Array
3 Pulse fire Quantom Torpedo tubes
1 Probe/Photon launcher

my question is where's the phaser array and third QT tube?

I've seen the rest but not these.

I'd immagine the third QT tube is in the aft section, but what about the array?

I've looked at the site pic and couldn't see it on either the dorsal or ventral sections, so does any one else know?

Didn't we see the Defiant fire from a phaser array near her bridge in the battle with the Lakota?

Yes, it fires aft dorsal IIRC. Though I could never find an array.

I'm pretty sure it is there. Has been a while though.

sounds good and makes sence, I know that's an oxymoron when considering Starfleet ship design, but it's my ship, I'll make the mod to put it there.

I was also thinking about the name. What do you think of: USS Valor?

na, we took your version and brought it into the world of global politics, notice pre-US all foreign affairs were done in French, 1800's (after we got our feet back under us) all foreign affairs are done in English. Conicidence I think NOT

Reliant121 wrote:...our beautiful language
From a purely linguistic perspective, you'd have to be a bit odd to consider modern English (whether American or British for which the differences really aren't as great as dialects of many other languages, which can be mutually unintelligible) "beautiful." My linguistics prof has used the following example to illustrate the degree of the mess: how many sounds are represented by the letters "ough"

- enough/tough
- thought/ought
- though
- through
- bough
- cough

Not only do we need four letters for one sound but the same four letters represent as many as 6 distinct sounds! The historical reasons for this are clear (modern English is basically a hodgepodge of a gazillion things and has been conservative about retaining borrowed spellings, etc) but there are more exceptions than rules, so it seems!

It was clear you were joking (though not necessarily about calling English "beautiful"); I just felt like saying something. Sorry, but the board's too quiet right now. Perhaps I should find better things to do, no? :)
