The Resolute class is a curious craft, as its offensive armament is not up to the normal standard of the Terran Alliance Maritime forces. In fact, several frigates have superior attack capability to this craft, such as the Monmouth and Caernavon castle classes. This ships attack weaponry is only here for basic support and to defend itself relatively if it should need to do so.
But that is not the strength of this design. The Resolute class is revered as being strong in two areas: Sensor equipment & Covert operations facility. The radar, the Reylar Taman-sel 834, a Danarian sensor system, is probably the best that has ever been fitted to an Alliance vessel, equipped with specialized systems to detect stealth craft, and the ability to create up to 15 active weapons locks at once.
The Covert operations are facilitated by the motor launch mounted on the upper surface of the deck. This is a unique feature of this ship, a fast and independent launch for ferrying special forces to and from their target location. The Launch also serves as a 5th lifeboat, often used by the captain and officers if the ship so needs to use it. This ship is unmatched for its ability to assist covert operatives, and is favoured very highly with operatives for exactly this capability.
