Stargate: SG-1
"Solitudes"
From here on out, Season 1 picks up.
This episode is the first to be directed by Martin Wood, who would become one of Stargate's top directors. And, it is a really pivotal episode of the series. It introduces the O'Neill/Carter relationship. And, what is established in this episode plays out really all the way down to the recently-released Continuum with... SPOILERS---> Earth's second stargate and the Ancient's Outpost in Antarctica.<---SPOILERS
This episode also plays out really nicely. One really gets to feel the hopeless situation O'Neill and Carter find themselves in. The music magnifies that feeling terrifically.
A bit of trivia: to give us the illusion that Carter and O'Neill were in a glacier, the production team literally had to freeze the set. When O'Neill tells Carter that his butt was freezing on the ground, he really was freezing!
