I don't think we should name the ship the Paladin. Because of its weakened state for the time period I don't think it should be the first of its kind personally. If the Paladin Class is an older model it would make snese why we didn't make it Wanktastic.
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Which is exactly why we should name it the Paladin. The first ship in the series usually ends up being the LEAST powerful, because as production continues, advances and new tech are installed as soon as they are ready, and the older ships don't usually get it till last (ie the difference between NX 01 and NX 02 (Columbia's enhanced weapons), Excelsior and her Enterprise-B subtype, Ambassador and the later Yamaguchi subtype, and so on) Naming it USS Paladin MAKES it the oldest ship of her series, and the first of her production run. So, while she's may have JUST been commissioned, she could have been sitting around for years like Defiant. That could be used to explain several quirks she may develop.

OOoo good point. I might just change my vote.
If it is the Paladin it shouldn't be a brand new ship.

I like the Epyon, I remember watching Gundam Wing and thinking that the Eypon reminded me of a Robot Knight.

Why on earth not? Just because it's the first of a run has no quantitive data about when it was made, just that it was the first.

Yeah it does, the class was built in 2380ish.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

That should be the battleships motto!

"All hands battlestations, all hands to battle stations!"

The crewmen cheer as they run to action stations...

"CURBSTOMP! CURBSTOMP! CURBSTOMP!"
