I mean, hell - the only time I successfully completed a standard one was by disassembling it and putting it back together solved...

Yeah, there's just no reason for that to exist.

What the holy fraking hell?!?

Jeez, the only time I managed to complete the regular one was by cheating. The one I had had all the colours on stickers on the cube, so I peeled the stickers off and put all the colours together again. :)

Sounds about like what I did; I pulled all of the component pieces apart, and put them back in completed order. I guess I was expecting some sort of citation for original thinking, or something...

I can do a normal one, but only by using calculus (and other math that makes my brain hurt). I'm sure I could eventually complete this one, but never in the record time:
Breandan McElhill solved the V-Cube 7 in 4 minutes 47.89 seconds
.

I was able to do the standard one in about 2 mins. Then someone brought out a barrel, a pyramid and a sphere and did those also. Then came the 4x4x4 and I worked out how to do those also. I haven't seen one in about 20 years.

Can do the first two layers from memory,
need to get out the answer book for the third layer.

That 4 x 4 x 4 cube is too much.

Maybe I should create a poll on who cheated to complete it, and who can actually solve the damn thing. So far, we've got Ian, who solved a number of them years ago. And the rest of us either cheated in some way, couldn't finish it, or never bothered trying.

I have solved it.
It just took about 3 days to complete it
