Anyhoo, if we can continue without any insulting digs or glaring math errors, I just think the trade-off of one huge weapon vs numerous smaller ones is too big of a sacrifice. The pulse phasers always seemed pretty powerful to me, and on turrets, they'd be a lot more accurate with a larger field of fire.
I think Teaos' new (anti-fleet) config is the best option I've seen so far.

Given their success on Defiant, they seem like something the real SF might continue using if they were smart.Tsukiyumi wrote:Anyhoo, if we can continue without any insulting digs or glaring math errors, I just think the trade-off of one huge weapon vs numerous smaller ones is too big of a sacrifice. Agreed, lance gives us busting power for long range/heavy targets. Pulse Phasers give a nice kiss to the poor soul who gets up close thinking "Now that lance can't get me... UH OH!"
Die by lance, array or turret.
Long, medium and short range.

You see! Isn't that so much better! Everyone is happy when everyone hates me. Except me of course but that just because I don't care.
That really pisses off the woman when she gets angry at me and I look into her deep camo green eyes and say "OK, and I care why?"

I like Dr. Brown's Black Cherry or Cel-ray, myself.
And Teaos' first configuration - as Deep said, it gives us the seige-busting, anti-installation capability, as well as covering all the intermediate ranges. Plus, we haven't even talked about torps yet...

Yeah, I think we know your vote on that subject already, Deep.
Let me guess, it starts with "quantum" and ends with megatonnes of explosive death and destruction?

Anyone else wanna through together a configuration of weapons?
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.
