I just realized it. Did they make Neelix's shuttle as a homage to classic Battlestar Galactica?

To answer the question - I do see the similarity, but a box with a cockpit and engines is a fairly common enough auxiliary ship design in TV sci-fi; see Andromeda, Space: 1999, etc.

Indeed, I think it resembles a Carrack from SW more. Especially with the big f*ck off window in the front.

I agree with Kendall. That thing reminds me more of a Carrack than anything else. Even the positioning of the engines is right.

Seeing it again, it even more strongly reminds me of one of the Space: 1999 craft, just with a blunt nose.

Meh, the only similarity is that they're both the same rough shape. I'm sure you could find dozens of similar shaped ships throughout sci-fi.
