AGT Galaxy Vs. Odyssey

So a little experiment kind of. Let's pit two starship designs against each other.

Neither. The Carebear and Little Pony Great Alliance opens a rift in subspace and time to prevent such a battle from occurring.

Is this a competition to see which one looks hotter, or which one would win in a fight?

Whilst not exactly alpha canon the basic Odyssey model in Star Trek Online has been revamped recently in celebration of the F’s appearance in Picard, the article announcing it* has an infographic that contains information relating to her dimensions, mass and amongst other things defensive systems. I believe this would count as a backstage source for the purposes of DITL.

Image
In STO parlance a covariant shield has a 10% higher capacity when compared to regular shields, but a 25% slower regeneration rate.
As can be seen in the image she is in possession of 19 Mk.XII phaser arrays (though 2 of those appear to be obscured when the chevron hasn’t been separated), 4 ‘variable yield’ torpedo launchers of which the 2 forward ones are explicitly quantum torpedo launchers (the naming might be a concession to the fact that in game basically any torpedo can be fired out of them), 2 phaser cannon turrets (unknown mark but as long as they’re not obscured by something they have a 360° arc of fire) and 2 heavy phaser cannon mounts (should roughly be equivalent to the same number of Defiant phaser cannons, in game the only difference between regular and heavy is chance to do critical damage if I recall correctly).

On the whole I think that as a larger and more modern base design as well as one that’s more heavily armed (minus the phaser lance - which funnily enough it’s Terran counterpart possesses) its the Odyssey’s fight to loose, though the combination of the cloaking device and the lance if used correctly could allow the Dreadnought to win if the Odyssey crew weren’t expecting it.

It's a great diagram, but the problem with the technical data is that it is intended more for in-game use rather than for the STU. And that makes perfect sense, because the Odyssey class was made for the game, not the show. The tactical data reflects that. Having nineteen phaser arrays is already a lot, but it also apparently has 360-degree phaser turrets (which only appear in the game) and phaser cannons as well. The game allows players to mix and match all kinds of weapons and arm ships to the teeth with lots of weapons, but that's not how things work in canon shows.

The ship dimensions are completely believable, but I don't think there's much else from the technical info that can be applied reasonably to canon Trek.
