Dark Trek indeed.

Like there are no real reasons to have lighting that low on a starship. You do it in real life to cut down on visible light that could be potentially seen for miles. They say that they can see a lit cigarette from miles away on a clear night on open seas for example. But when you are deep in the ship, full lights are on.

So what is the reason for dark lighting?
Hide the actors' wrinkles?
Nah thematically it just to look cool.

The mood. That's about it. To make it 'darker' and 'mysterious'. Also probably to save on special-effects costs.

I'm going to catch it a day late, as I stay at my aunt's on a Thursday, so will watch it Friday when I get home. I am quite excited for it, will see how it goes.

I have just watched the first episode, can't wait for the next one. Much better start to this season I think.

So, Eaglemoss is canon. The show looks different from Season 1 and 2. Probably due to the new show runner, Terry Matalas. A YouTuber said that he saw the first 6 episodes already, and they were all good, better than season 1 or 2. He also claimed that Terry Matalas was given total control over Season 3. No Akiva Goldsman or Alex Kurtzman input, so he credited the improvement to Terry Matalas.

I'm not the greatest fan of the "Neo-Constitution"-class. Riker says it was a complete refit of his Titan, so presumably much like Kirk's Enterprise was completely refit. But I wasn't a fan of that suggestion either, given the considerable differences in the ships.

Why does that Neo-Con have Constitution-type Phasers, instead of the more modern phaser arrays, which to me would make more sense.

Still, I enjoyed the episode, and am more optimistic about this season than after I watched the premier's of seasons one or two.

Episode 2: Some wonderful moments throughout this episode that I *knew* what the outcome was and others that were completely surprising!

I found that the second one lacked some pace, with things going slowly for no apparent purpose. You would think that they had 24 episodes to tell the story, rather than the 10 that is typical these days.

I was supprised by the swordsman at the end, I was expecting a more Picard season 1/2 person, rather than the one it turned out to be.

The Picard reveal was pretty obvious. Somewhat cruel of Bev to name him after her dead ex husband!

I thought they might use swordsman to set up the series about that special super secret section and the female heading the series (who is now all over the press with an Oscar nomination)..but was still thrilled with the reveal and 'look' of who it was!

Saw the Picard reveal coming a mile away..as in from episode 1 with just his shaded image from behind a doorway.

Had real STVI vibes with the villian, her actual RL connection to the film as well as her spin in the capts chair, and the chase into the nebula..all harkening back to VI and II.

Yeah, the Picard reveal was pretty obvious. Definitely seemed much slower paced than the first episode, but still enjoyable overall. Loved the reveal at the end with the swordsman.

Still haven't quite made up my mind about the villain.

Looking forward to next week!

Somehow I doubt she is the main villain. I get the feeling she is working for someone.

Episode 3: more baddies revealed, nebula antics continue, show-down baby daddy convo, klingon unexpected humor...all good still!
