The Nevers

A Victorian London based sci-fi Joss Wedon project on HBO.

An event (shown at the end of episode 1 in a stunning bit of CGI) embues some people with special abilities. Those afflicted are persecuted, kidnapped, and seen as lower class persons.

The feel is a mix of Penny Dreadful, Sherlock Holmes, Carnival Row, and Marvel...all peppered with Wedon-ese quick smart dialogue and stock characters seen in his other projects.

Wedon left the show midway through production, so the first six episodes are his, while the remainder are helmed by others.

Intriguing enough to watch again, though it could become weighed down by subplots and subterfuge easily.

Just finished the mid-season finale: lots of questions answered, many more remain..no clue when the final six episodes of season one will appear.

When the shake-up at WB happened, the final 6 episodes of the show were not shown on HBO, then they decided not to show them on HBOMax, so they sat in limbo for a while. Then super quiet and sneaky-like, they aired them in Feb, mid-afternoon on a WB channel with ads, on some streaming platform called Tubi...without the opportunity of recording or having them available for more than the day/time aired. The final 6 were then shown again the top of March before begin stripped from the streamer. I was able to find them eventually, for my own closure on the series. Gotta say, first 6 were much better than the non-Whedon final 6, for whatever that is worth.
