Thousands of President Trump’s supporters are in Washington for rallies Wednesday to falsely assert that the presidential election was stolen from him. The demonstrations turned violent as many in attendance saw them as a last stand for Trump on the same day that Congress votes to certify that President-elect Joe Biden won the election.

Trump — who lost the popular and electoral college vote — continues to dispute the results, without evidence, and has encouraged his supporters to attend the rallies in the nation’s capital. He took the stage about noon to roaring crowds, claiming he had won the election.

At the U.S. Capitol, throngs of people pushed past police who were trying to block them from entering the building as lawmakers inside debated the certification of the presidential election. A mob was able to breach security and successfully enter the building.

Raffensperger escorted out of state Capitol building, says deputy secretary of state

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and senior staffers have been escorted out of the state Capitol building after protestors gathered near the parking deck, according to Deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs.

He told ABC News that the protestors are members of a militia.

Raffensperger and his staff were walked to their cars by Capitol police, Fuchs said.

The incident occurred as pro-Trump demonstrators breached the U.S. Capitol, forcing a lockdown with members of Congress.

While the D.C. protests turned violent, KSNT’s Capitol Bureau confirmed the local protesters are in a circle and remain peaceful at this time.

This is the day we should all mark as a historic day and not a good one. I honestly cannot think of something that has happened like this during the whole history of the US. It's own citizens storming a major government building in protest. That was the sort of thing we watched on TV in other countries and laugh about it.

I don't want to hear anything about liberals protests, rioting or anything anymore.

These were not just protestors, they were domestic terrorists/insurrectionists hell bent on not only impeding the democratic process, but also instilling fear with destruction of property, carrying fire arms, and placing pipe bombs.

Nothing about these 'protests' were peaceful. Incited by months of false conspiracy therories fed daily to them by POTUS, he sent them from a peaceful rally, to reign down terror on the Capitol. And four of them paid with their lives.

Both the 25th amendment is being seriously discussed, as well as ANOTHER impechment. While a successful impeachment would remove Twitler from office now, it would also no allo him to run for office again. 25th amendment could remove him, allowing him to try for 2024 AND a very likely pardon for all crimes from acting Poodle Pence.
