I'm curious to see his vision for Dune, lol Star Wars for adults.

Idk...I never understood the hate and criticism leveled at the 1984 movie. I read the books, still like the movie. It is not perfect but visually it is still imho one of the most impressive things considering the time it was made. It basically set the visual tone for everything Dune related that came after. It has a "realness" and grittiness that is completely absent in this trailer.

Fair enough...after almost 20 years one can try a reboot.....but honestly...I think this will not be huge success. From the trailer alone..it seems to lack soul and passion. Which the 1984 version - despite its inperfections - has in spades.

I like how they handled the shields, the stillsuits good too. How are they going to portray the BG Voice and martial arts (Prana-Bindu training?).

Watched it today...gorgeous cinematography, really stunning use of actual places to evoke the feel of off-world...special effects were decent with regards to shields, etc...small ships were verrry similar to ships in LEXX, tv series...music was plenty of borrowed thematic material from Lawrence of Arabia...supporting cast is soooo much better than the main cast...too many slow motion drawn out shots of emotionless acting...easily could have trimmed 30 mins off.
Would I watch sequels? With liberal fast forward!

I watched the movie in IMAX, and the background music/sound effects often stepped on the dialogue. The Baron had an excess 'phlegm' sound when he talked, and sometimes the music itself seemed a bit off. Graphics were good, and I liked the thopters
