Baseball: Will they or won't they start/complete the shortened 60 game season???

Post by T'Pau »

I'm leaning to 25% yes and 75% no.

After months of millionaires arguing with billionaires over money (no surprise there) , they settle on the particulars, and major players are opting out right and left. Add in rampant CV19 positive tests and I just don't see them starting play and really not completing it.

Any other fans out there?

I'm a casual baseball fan at best. But more than American football, that's for damned sure. I hope they don't start the season. Way too risky.

Today, games were canceled due to a Covid outbreak on one team. So their game was a no go, and the game for the next team to use that locker room also had a no go. Tip of the iceberg, folks. Tipping point approaching like the Titanic and the band already jumped ship!

Already one pitcher who recovered from CV-19, is now struggling with a heart issue which is believed to be brought on my this virus.

Cancel the season before players and staff start dying!

Alarmist? Maybe. Watching teams unable to follow simple protocols for three frikken days...maybe not alarming enough!!!

More players from same team also testing positive today...more games canceled ...IF they try to make up these games it will mean multiple double headers, which will put players in contact with others for even longer periods of time!!!

All three leagues, NHL, NBA and MLB are forcing themselves to have a season because they know that waiting any longer will eventually start messing with the next season too. Which it already is.

Honestly should have just shut it all down. Unless you put the players and coaches into a forced jail quarantine for the season this was just going to happen.

NFL still has time and they are fortunate to observe what not to do from the other three leagues

They shouldn't have even started. Like you said, they fucked themselves over this season and the next. Idiots!

I agree. I think all three leagues should have called this season off for good and focus on the 2021 season. Maybe baseball could have been salvaged but to a much shorter season and more local season if at all possible. Like down to 30 games and then the playoffs. Or be unique and do a three game sudden death bracket. Each conference faces each other and wins the conference to face off the other conferences.

Trying too much too fast when the whole country is reeling back from anti Corona people who don't care about it.

Because right now, the NBA is nipping at the heels of their own 2020-2021 season which may end up being shortened itself. Same goes for Hockey.

Hockey and basketball might fare better with the playing in a bubble atmosphere.

Well side bonus with the NFL. More Patriots players opt out the more Belichick has to figure out how to use other players with less ability and the better chance they lose. Unfortunately that may result in them getting that top end QB from Clemson. Which is the last thing he needs. A hot shot rookie QB.
