Bajorian representative on DS9, what if?

Post by 00111010 01000100 »

Imagine this...

Ensign Ro as the bajorian attaché to DS9’s federation personnel.

(I like Kira’s character, this is just an imagine Ro in her position?).

Ensign Ro was originally meant to be exactly that, but the actress didn't want to do it. So in truth, it would probably be much the same.

That's what I read as well. She didn't want to do it. I wonder if it was Michelle Forbes as Ro Laren, would we have still gotten Colm Meaney as Miles O'Brien? I am operating under the assumption that existing characters were to be added to DS9 based on fan familiarity with TNG and producers wanting to capture that crossover audience.

I was very surprised at miles leaving enterprise to become the chief of operations on DS9. Don’t get me wrong, from the get go, the actor displayed far more engineering and technical skills than a simple transportor Chief. I suppose since the show was going to be ending soon, he made the obvious choice to keep his career going by moving on.

My running theory was that TNG writers and directors were pleasently surprised with Colm Meaney's acting and that O'Brian as a character to write for. So when DS9 was still being worked on they brought him over as well.

Sort of like why create a whole new character when you got a under utilized one with O'Brian.

Then again I don't have alot of info on DS9 unlike TNG on their pre production.

They kinda/sorta almost did that crossover with Tom Paris/Nicolas Locarno. But Eddington instead of Chakotay, considering how flaccid Voyager went with Maquis vs Federation potential drama, tension, and struggle, would have been a waste of a character with Eddington's background. Don't get me wrong though, I definitely would've stuck around a lot longer with Voyager to see if the show will ever address Eddington's past and can the Feds overcome his betrayal, can the Maquis forgive his surrender? He'd bring up Sisko and shit talk him in front of Feds, starting a fight in the mess hall. Maybe he would consider Janeway to be more evil than Sisko, who knows.

He was pretty high up in the Marqee ranking and definitely would’ve commanded a small ship like Chakotay’s.

Which he did in DS9. In fact he seemed to be commanding the Maquis or at least a cell by the time he was captured.

Hmmm. That’s right (I know, condescending sounding since you know this fact all to well), he became the leader until his death saving some survivors + wife.

If he had went to voyager, Eddington could’ve brought that nifty cascade virus with him and gave it to the borg, all wrapped up as a present!

(Kidding)

I STILL feel that was a waste of a great plot point! The actor playing Locarno/Paris. They could’ve used the same name and with the disgrace Locarno’s character accepted in TNG, would’ve added to the history of Paris character’s history and the deaths of the pilots, being kicked out of starfleet, ect. Why they used the same actor and a similar backstory (when the TNG plot history for him was already in place), but not the same name and different subplot... I’ll never understand?

Well, if it was marquis+federation drama anyone wanted a little more to. There’s always the tessa subplot. Lol. The cardasian-> made to look bajoran-> spy who jumped ship for the Kazons -> stole federation tech for them -> then went all Chakotay’s baby momma. Drama-ish. ;)

Money. It's american-made, so of course it came down to money.

Versus this Canadian TV Show franchise I love about a group of four friends going through a wall of water to other places and fighting snakes and pseudo-vampires, wherein the spin off had a sceintist who was actually already in two episodes of previous seasons of the parent' show. His name was Meredith Rat Okay or something... :P

I did not know that? Sounds interesting/funny though!

haha yeah a little Southpark humor thrown into that (a certain character, instead of saying 'Okay' just hmms they say's k. So it sounds like a mispronounciation of "McKay" :p McKay> Mmkay > Okay, and a Rodney is... well, a huge rat. so Meredith (his actual given name) Rat (Rodney) Okay (McKay)
