His character had the most interesting story and potentially the better arc, than our given hero. A bad guy going good, turning his former fellows against the people who made them killers. There's no way professional writers/directors/producers missed that. No way. I don't understand why not make Rey the Stormtrooper who will turn good? In the back of viewers' minds, is the Force making her good, and that is her awakening or is her developing empathy and a conscience awakening the Force within her? That's something that shouldn't be answered, in the name of drama and intrigue. Then move on from there- is she merely atoning for her past, or does she truly begin to care for others, and that's why she fights? If she continues to fight, will she be able to resist the temptations of the Dark Side? She was a Stormtrooper and was raised to be a killer, yet she's trying to do good but is still a killer.

Plus in that whole endeavor, Boyega is the only one who could be said to be an actual Star Wars fan. Not anymore, of course.
