Depends on the shot, target, type of shot and interference.

So the shields dropping was offscreen then?

That depends on my prior statement plus time in combat, damage and conditions prior to combat and if weapons in use bypass shields.

No, we assume they were using conformal shields, which don't light up when hit in the same way bubble shields do. This characteristic is clearly demonstrated in TUC.McAvoy wrote:So... we saw no shields in fleet battles. So we can assume that they just turned them off?

Correct. If you don't like it, that's your problem.

Seafort's right. We see the E-A take several hits from torpedoes that hit what seem to be the hull but don't actually penetrate, with Scotty himself saying, "Shields weakening!"
EDIT:
And what Deep said, too.

At the same time, we were seeing bubble shields in VOY. But I guess those Dominion weapons were really powerful weren't they?

Not as well though, since we never saw a shielded ship hit - in the first action the E-nil didn't get them up in time and the Reliant's were disabled before Kirk opened fire, and in the second they were both u/s due to the nebula.Deepcrush wrote:Also shown in STII-TWoK.

Dominion weapons bypassed shields until season 6.McAvoy wrote:At the same time, we were seeing bubble shields in VOY. But I guess those Dominion weapons were really powerful weren't they?

True, but the mention was for supporting evidence to show it wasn't a "One time" deal as is common in fiction.Captain Seafort wrote:Not as well though, since we never saw a shielded ship hit - in the first action the E-nil didn't get them up in time and the Reliant's were disabled before Kirk opened fire, and in the second they were both u/s due to the nebula.Deepcrush wrote:Also shown in STII-TWoK.

Re: Faults of The Sisko
On a side note, besides E-E in Nemsis, did we ever see TNG era ships with clear indications of a conformal shields? Just saying because it could be Movie-era ships with that type of shield.

TNG, not ringing a bell right now however we did see such with most battles in DS9.
