Bolo's, giant sentient tanks with hydrogen bomb guns for main armament.

Since the scenario specifically stated unlimited ammo I took shotgun, rifle, machinegun. Shotgun, that's hard to nail down to a single weapon since they come in so many varieties. Rifle, something in .375 H&H, machine gun, the HK-417 is very nice and portable.

I'm not big on melee weapons just because you need to be moving away from zombies. Fighting them hand to hand is pretty much just delayed suicide. Explosives generally rely on blast effects to do damage and that's highly suspect against zombies. Flame based weapons are again out as they are largely psychological and against something that's already dead burning it's skin is... pointless.

Most melee weapons arent pointless unless you forget to sharpen them.

Yes, they are. Zombies don't care if you stab them, in fact it's unlikely to even slow them down. The only reliable way to kill them is to destroy the head (in some continuities all decapitation does is leave you with an animate zombie head) and with most melee weapons that's unlikely at best. You'd need something like a large mace to really have a chance at it. The problem? That would be spraying all kinds of viscera around greatly increasing the chance of your own infection. The kind of weapon you'd need to reliably kill a zombie in a melee situation is also going to be too ponderous to use against more than one or two at a time.

Melee vs. zombies is just dragging out your death. If zombies are getting close enough to hit with a pistol you need to be running away as fast as you can. If zombies are close enough to hit with a machete you should just put your pistol to your temple and get it over with.

Yes, it was an incredibly lame pun. I ignored it to hammer the point home about melee weapons being worse than useless in a zombie scenario. Having one might give you thoughts of using it. If you don't have one you have no option but to run as zombies get close. If you have it you might stand your ground.

Tyyr hit the nail on the head. Despite stories of medieval arming swords decapitating people on the battlefield, the fact is... spines are hard. Only specially-made, super-heavy (without quillions!) executioner's swords - which were necessarily without a point and had a less-than-razor edge - could reliably chop through a neck. Even if you could get your machete/bolo knife/whatever through the first neck, it would be dulled into uselessness after that first one.

That's why I specified - 18" bbl, improved cylinder, pump action, primarily loaded with 0000 or 00 buffered buck - 3" shells, most likely.

You, of all people, know that this isn't a machine gun. However, I'm glad you agreed with me on this one - super-reliable, assault rifle or battle rifle sized (depending on which barrel you choose,) easy controls, and the NATO 7.62x51 round instead of the 5.56.

Why isn't there an SMG option? Honestly, I'd take a Thompson in that case.

Kriss Super-V, dude. Same great .45 ACP, none of the annoying recoil! The only thing better than full auto .45 ACP fire against unprotected flesh is... full auto .45 ACP fire against unprotected flesh while keeping all of the follow-up shots on target.

13 round standard feed, 30 round box, shifting action... nah

20/50/75 round feed on a set piece action... yeah

Besides, rounds will land where you want them when you learn to fire the weapon in question properly. Of course with your 13 rounds you can't afford to miss where I have 75 and don't have to give a shit. :poke:
