Re: General Discussion
As long as you guys stick to the Iron Man gear and leave my designs alone then we're cool.

Re: General Discussion
I think it adds a lot of flexibility to the design process; lets people come up with different stuff for different roles and keeps it within a defined set of parameters.
Could be a good system. I'll reserve judgment until I see the sheet.

Personally, I'd be going with the huge Mobile Suits... but the RSE always did do things bigger.

Yeah, I'm also wondering how this new system will account for all the things that I have.

Re: General Discussion
It's not exactly an out there concept. The military is looking for ways to move soldiers towards that concept slowly but surely. The idea that soldiers in the future would be charging into battle in their BDUs is sort of ridiculous.
Re: General Discussion
But they don't anymore....now they upgrade to their ACUs!

Re: General Discussion
I'll note that I didn't see any category for melee weapons or simple jump jets. Should be easy enough to add though, I suppose.
Perhaps they could just give some bonus to combat or movement rather than being options in their own right.

Also there was nothing written about the effectiveness of the different types of weapons and armors.

Re: General Discussion
Everyone is free to design whatever they want. So far how it has worked for game purposes is this.
Someone ask me to design armored infantry and they get armored infantry. They are all about the same because the ground combat rules are simple.
Regulars are rated a 1
Elite troops are a 4.
Armored infantry would be an 8 or 10 or something.
Better armored infantry would be a 12 or 14.
Even better armored infantry might be a 16-20 or something.
It is all totaled up and percentage likelhood of victory is figured, then a random role happens just like described in the rules.
I have let people do as much or as little design work as they have wanted as some seem to enjoy it. But ground combat is designed to be simple. If I think a design is particularly clever it gets a higher rating like a 10. If I think its dumb it gets a lower one like an 8. This is an add on for those who want to get more involved in the specifics but needless to say it can only cover a certain amount of limited options. Its up to everyone to decide if this is better than a very basic system that we are running for ground combat now. It can't hardly cover every option the exist.
It is an addition to the game. Like anything else its not perfect or comprehensive. Ground combat is designed to be simple as I never really envisioned people caring all that much about it. This was an effort to meet demand for more options in a more fair way.
