I'm interested to know how he had any idea of the size of Borg space. At best they could know they held a largeish portion of the delta quadrant.

I don't think anyone in the federation can say with any certainty how much the borg control.

Now that thye have 7 of 9 they do. Also voyager has been in the delta quadrant for 7 years talking to people who would know quite a bit about the Borg.
But before then they wouldn't know much at all.

Good point. When was the comment made? Did the have 7 of 9 with them by them?

No I think that comment was made before 7 of 9. Just as they were about to enter Borg space for the first time.

In that case I think its safe to write it off a a vague statement.
The only thing they would have known about the size of the borg fleet is "Very large."

Interesting. Is there a link to one of those maps?
I always thought Graham had the Borg space way over the top on his maps on this site.
He has them controlling a large part of the Bata quadrant when I think they would only hold bits.

I haven't been able to find very good ones online, nothing "Star Charts" quality, at least. If anyone has access to better ones, let me know!

I've only been able to find some fan made maps. Most are pretty useless.

Yeah fans tend to over estimate their favourite species.
I have seen people have the Klingons have 3/4 of the Bata quadrant and the Federation was tiny. I've also seen the Federation own almost half the Galaxy.
I don't even agree with Grahams really and he is usually pretty convervative.

I made a map (using MS paint of all things
), but I probably won't post it now... I tried not to inflate anyone, but I can't guarantee accuracy. I made it a fun project by trying to combine some of the (in my opinion) better maps with how the galaxy probably really looks (slightly barred spiral). Then I put in the Borg and Dominion. (The Dominion is probably a tad too small, looking back on it)
If anyone really wants to destroy (...I mean take a look at it
) I can upload it.

May as well. Worst case senario is it is so bad we kick you off the forum and burn your house down.
One problem Maps have is they are 2D and our galaxy is 3D. The federation could control space under the Klingon empire and they some over us and that is all but impossible to show on a map. The chances of boarders being straight up and down is slim to none.

The shape/size I chose for Borg space were based on three factors...
1) The Borg were at System J25, 7,000 light years from the Federation. And Guinan's warning that they should head home right now means that she expected them to be there - that's Borg territory, not some lone ship far out from home.
2) At the other end, Voyager encountered their space in Scorpion whilst still sixty-something thousand light years from home.
Put these together, and "Borg space" spans a good fifty thousand light years or so, canonically speaking.
But here's the rub...
3) Voyager "crossed Borg space" in a 10,000 light year jump in "the gift"... but then kept encounering them over and over. Voyager was seemingly never far from Borg space for the rest of its mission.
So my conclusion is that the Borg do indeed span something like 50,000 light years as per 1 and 2... but that Voyager's course skirts the very edge of that territory. For the most part they are well clear... but here and there they hit little "island territories" or "fingers" or Borg space that stick out from the main body... or places where the Borg raid out regularly but which aren't their territory as such.
That's what the territory on my maps was based on. I could go further in making Borg space thinner, but it seemed to me that it had to have some kind of depth - a long "snake" of territory didn't seem to make much sense.
