Ah yes, because black guys are totally interchangeable and all work together for a common goal.
As for an American pope... shouldn't that one be up to God?

To be fair, a black pope may be good. Since as a whole the population has spent most of its efforts since gaining equality... into killing each other by the tens of thousands. Someone who could try and unite them could be a worthy cause.

You would rather they unite under the pope and decide to kill everyone else?Deepcrush wrote:To be fair, a black pope may be good. With luck they'll unite under the Pope and be useful to society again.

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio is now Francis I.
Guess the conclave was feeling sorry for the Argies after they got put back in their box yesterday.

Good on the south Americans, considering thats where most of the worlds Catholics are, and most of the worlds Practicing catholics are, they deserve it.
Also I do find it funny that the old Pope was a Hitler youth and the new one is from the country where a lot of escaping Nazis fleed to... conspiracy.

It certainly has been a long time coming to have a Latin American pontiff, I just wonder about how a man with almost zero experience outside his home archdiocese got elected so quickly.

5 votes is fairly normal speed. I think they knew they needed a change.
I love that he choose an original name too.

So what will be the first thing Francis I asks once he gets a hold of the Pope's private line to the Big Man? 8)

Not really - Benny XVI was elected in four, and he was far and away the front-runner going in. JP II took eight.Teaos wrote:5 votes is fairly normal speed. I think they knew they needed a change.

Re: Pope Benedict XVI to resign
Aye. Given that Benny changed the rules back to requiring a 2/3rds majority, rather than the simple majority JP had changed it to, I'm very surprised we got a result so quickly. This is the Roman Catholic Church we're talking about - rapid decision making is not a speciality.
