Lets just remember, as much as we might have liked the first it wasn't exactly high art.

As long as it's enjoyable and not too dumb I'll be pleased with it. Given the current track record for remakes and sequels, I'll be happy if it's just not shit.

But the enjoyable storyline with good graphics for the time really worked together well.

Not saying it wasn't a fun movie, it just wasn't Casablanca is all I'm saying. I know a lot of these movies get ridiculous expectations due to rose colored glasses about our past.

Ah, true enough.

IMO, a movie doesn't have to be great. Just enjoyable.

Well, art doesn't really exist, because there's no mirror big enough to...

Never mind.

I know what it was and what it is. Good movie, but not 'classic'. Still, I'd rather watch this than 2001.

It is IMO. Original concept, great execution, and some really good performances (especially from Jeff Bridges, David Warner, and Bruce Boxleitner).

Original concept, great execution, and some really good performances. In slow motion.

Good point on the first one. I concede. 2001... I'm sorry, I really am... but I hate[/i] 2001.

I absolutely LOVE 2001. I know it's not exactly fast paced, but it's one of the all time greats IMO.

Agreed. Great novel and great film. In fact, the only things Kubrick's made which I haven't liked were Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut.

I know, I know. It's mostly personal taste with me and 2001. Still not gonna change my mind, though.

That's why they make chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, and peanut-butter-and-jelly ice cream. Tell me you liked the novel, though... please?

Here's a fun fact. When I was a kid I used to make "discs" with a blue/red marker and paper plates
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.
