Technically, that would still make it lighter, by adding a hole, you let out whatever it is inflated with, thus making it "lose" mass.

One time I saw this old cartoon where this guy had a "hole" (i.e. a large black disk) that he carried around like a suitcase, and if he laid it on the ground people would fall into it.

I was the guy who would always explain why the cartoons were inaccurate... at ten.
