I'd say tardiness is just as much an Irish trait as it is an Hawaiian one. It took you lot seven hundred years to get around to kicking us out.

And some of them still think they have work to do on that end.

Maybe I'll come up with a nice Hawaiian character for the Daystrom RP. Add some color to the Valkeryie............

Perhaps Trip's parents were from another area of the South (I know they lived in Mississippi at one point)... Children often pick up the dialect(s) of their parents - I grew up with a kid who was born and raised here in Wyoming but had a Texas accent like his parents. He retained that accent into adulthood...
This whole discussion makes me think of a cereal commercial I saw recently on television. A guy says the name "Kellogg's" has the letters "L" and "O" together - as in "L O, guvNAH!"

"'Lo Guvnah" is precisely how people from London talk. And how people in Portsmouth have a habit of talking. It is so annoying, because Portsmouth is nowhere near the estuary...so why does everyone sound like it?

Only Dick Van Dyke as Cockney jack-of-all-trades/chimney sweep 'Bert' talks like that reallyReliant121 wrote:"'Lo Guvnah" is precisely how people from London talk. Oh of course. People in southend that I talk to either talk normally, or dont talk at all and instead try to ram a knife through your chest.

That would be fitting, since we only do flying visits over the weekend. I cant deal with my grandmother for more than two days. Nor can I deal with 58 Bulwark road as a place. Its like a perfect preservation of the 70's.

Ahhh, Shoebury eh? Not quite so forbidding as Southend centre. OK place to go shopping but wouldn't want to live there (I live a nice, safe 8 miles away...)

Re: Why did Tucker have a southern accent?
The entirety of my family live there. My dad's side come from Lee, my aunt lives in Highlands Boulevard (ooooooo), my aunt and uncles live in York road and my grandparents live in Bulwark. My other grandparents live in Broomfield, somewhere in Basildon. Safe to say, its just varying ranges of "foreboding".

I can't wait to visit England. It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid and saw "Excalibur". Of course, you all are killing a bit of the myth for me.

Re: Why did Tucker have a southern accent?
Each county or region has a different sound. if you want a proper british sounding accent visit Surrey. Hop either side, and you got two completely different accents. Head into rural hampshire, and you got Hagrid like accents. Head into Essex and you have the east london thing. Head up north, northern accents are weird as hell. Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Portsmouth all have their own little accents. Lancashire and Yorkshire, two north counties, sound similar yet have a few different bits. Scotland and wales are different stories entirely.
