Nebula Class Disscussion
Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
Or maybe it can separate, but it can't reattach.

Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
If it doesnt have civies on it there would be no need.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I doubt the Nebula separates, no advantage in it.
Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
So with civvies taken off the GCS mark two, you think they removed the seperation feature?

While I'd agree with you, if you look carefully, you can see the separation line. Now, it may just be that the hull plates lined up just right...Rochey wrote:I doubt it seperates, personaly.
No trees were killed in transmission of this message. However, some electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
As has been said, I don't see the point of separation for the Nebula; and if it did, the remaining parts would be a structurally-unsound collapsing nightmare.

Plus it'd be rather dumb. I can kinda see something big like the GCS splitting in half, but not a Neb.

Plus, were would the advantage lie in a Nebula seperating???

Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
I'd imagine it'd have to do with a situation similar to that of Generations. Core won't eject, gets you away from the warp core, ASAP. Maybe the idea of emergency separation only?Mark wrote:Plus, where would the advantage lie in a Nebula seperating???
Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away, don't you hear me calling you?
Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
I could live with that. The reconnecting sequence would be unusually dangerous I'd imagine.

Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
Would impulse be able to get you far enough, fast enough from an exploding warp core?

Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
Well, aren't escape pods supposed to be able to get you to saftey on just a big thruster?

Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
I always imagined there was some sort of initial propulsion generated by the launching ship, to produce a good deal of acceleration initially. Not canon, but seems logical to me.

Re: Nebula Class Disscussion
We see escape pods launched in First Contact and there's no real opening "kick", they just sort of drift out.
Then again we see a large pod launch from the Saratoga in Emissary, and it's like a bullet from a gun.
