We all knew Voyager would get home in 7 years. It was decided the second the series was set.

Well, a 70-year run would blow the doors off the records for fictional series. (and it'd have to be a pretty damn good show if it could pull it off)

They wouldnt leave it open ended unless they planned on doing movies. Although having them blow up an fail would have been an interesting take on it.
