Re: Type 21 Battleship
Updated views. I love how the top and bottom have come out, though the aft hull is maybe a little boxy at the moment.

The connecting strut looks rather thick. I assume that means its not that fast?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Re: Type 21 Battleship
For some reason the name "Type 21" makes me think of a WWII Japanese Battleship like the Yamato..but I don't know why.

Leave the aft hull alone. One of the things I love about your designs is the emphasis on utiltarianism over pure aesthetics (which emphasis is, of course, an aesthetic all its own...)

Indeed. That ship looks more than powerful enough as it is.

Looks matter not. Combat performance is all!
Actually there is an in universe reason not to have the hulls too angular. The drive field lobes are ellipsoids, and it's important that nothing poke through the field; very bad for efficiency if that happens. All those sharp right angles at the back there, it's not a great fit to the aft field. I'm working on bevelling the aft end of the hull somewhat, and it's looking pretty good so far. Will post it when I finish later today...

Re: Type 21 Battleship
Well the guns point out. Wouldnt it make sense to put them in a shell that can fold down. Or a dome like those round telescope buildings.

That neck makes me envisioning that your universe has an entire branch of ships that has been designed to do one thing: cutting neck to take those ships out.

Re: Type 21 Battleship
Graham pointed out earlier in the thread that even if the neck were severed, the weapons have independant power sources, and the rear section would even retain shielding. It's not like blasting the neck section would blow up the ship.shran wrote:That neck makes me envisioning that your universe has an entire branch of ships that has been designed to do one thing: cutting neck to take those ships out.

It would immobilize it though, wouldn't it?
