The only down side is it is rather hard to keep them in squadron out of war time. And because of their reduced speed they cant get to the action as fast as others can.

True, but they'd make an excelent defence force for important planets, where speed wouldn't matter as much.

That as well. Basicaly anywhere that's mostly static, and where travel times would be unimportant.

There weren't many around for the majority of the war. You couldnt have made a squadron out of them up until MAYBE the last series were everything was moving to fast.

Good point. Hopefully Starfleet will be smart enough to put them into mass production in later years.

Well there did seem to be more of them about latter on and since it was only a few years that does indicate a good building program.

Making Janeway was good PR. Look at what she does though, sends messages and is behind a desk were she can do little damage.
