Hi guys, I'm back around a bit. Hopefully that'll man better luck for Jim and a speedy and complete recovery. Now, time to change into my secret identity of Assistant Coach Dad-man and try to use my powers of extremely loud vocalization to wrangle 11 8-year-old girls into a semblance of an attentive and useful softball practice!

With the emphasis on the word "try"? :P

Welcome back. :)

Well that is a pretty crappy week. At least it can't get worse now.

Welcome back Coach.

and... a fresh pic with my new specs (against the backdrop of the computer shop I call, er... work)

Image

The prescription is only slightly different than my old pair but it does make a difference in vision, and I used the opportunity to get a stylish (and slightly better fitting) pair.

After the fact, I would even amend that to "try and fail."

CPH, those look almost exactly like my new specs. Good call.

What's even 'better' is I'll be in charge of the department, because the week before the ship-from-store manager will be on vacation. :chopper:

Been unofficially "adopted" by a new family; No longer homeless as I have been housed in a hostel with the YMCA; And finally decided it was time to come clean about my sexuality (My "former" family and I fell out several years back when they discovered I was gay, so I kept it secret until now).

For the first time in years, I am starting to see a future ahead of me again :)

Definitely :) Hopefully I will get an internet dongle thing soon and get on here more often, as I can only get on when I go to my mums.

Good to hear that things are looking up... and that you've found folks who can accept you based on your qualities as a person rather than as a label.

Well, my kids were helping me get something ready to bake. When we were done, my 4-year-old son asked me if he could lick the bowl. Sounds pretty normal, right? Only, we were making meatballs. Of course, this is the same child who asks for pork roll for breakfast - when I ask him what he'd like to eat with his pork roll, he says, "Bacon."
